Hello! I've downloaded the latest version of gimp-1.3-setup for windows, which is compiled for i686 or better. Although I have an athlon xp and I can install this binary version using "real" windows, I can't install it using wine. Setup sais "This version of gimp is compiled for Pentium 2 or better and will not run on this computer". I don't know the windows api very well and I don't know how to detect the cpu-type using windows api, but I guess wine doesn't tell setup the right cpu-type, doesn't it? Is there perhaps a workaround? I'd like to know gtk works using wine. Ciao, Olaf
Why don't you use the linux version of gimp?

You can get the latest LINUX version of Gimp at http://www.gimp.org/ and it would run natively in Linux without the need to go through all that. If he finds something that doesn't work in wine you can write off one more bug. He sure knows that Gimp also exists in a Linux version. bye Fabi
