Hey now- I'm trying to get Flash 5 installed using the default version of Wine that came with my Mandrake 8.0 installation. I am using Wine configured to use a "fake windows" partition, run in Windows 98 mode, and run within an X window. I can get the installer program for Flash 5 to start and being unpacking, but right after the unpacking of the .cab files I get an error message to the effect that "Setup failed to launch installation engine". I am a complete newbie to Wine, so I'm a little confused as to how to proceed. Any advice would be much appreciated. I tried installing the demo version of Dreamweaver 3 that came on my Flash 5 CD (just to see what would happen) and it got 95% of the way through the installation, hanging on the "Adding Start Up Menu Icons" (or something to that effect). Do I need to have a real Windows partition with Flash 5 installed to use Wine? Or can I install Flash 5 from Wine itself? Any help much appreciated, Steve Lange

With other Wine flavours it is unusable.> Do I need to have a real Windows partition with Flash 5 installed to use > Wine? Or can I install Flash 5 from Wine itself?Yes you must install it on an real guintendo and then copy the program's folder and one dll (ctl3d32?) on the wine installation. Ferran
Okay, here is an update: On the Codeweaver's Wine Knowledgebase I found this link: http://wine.codeweavers.com/fom-meta/cache/332.html It describes the problem I am having with trying to install Flash 5 succinctly; specifically: "Setup failed to launch installation engine (0xXXXXXXXX)". I've tried the suggestion mentioned on that page--adding the "--dll ole32=n" string, but now I can't even get Wine to start at all. Again, I am using Wine with a fake windows partition. I went into the System_Files folder, and there is an ole32.dll listed, but I don't know if this is a real dll or not--and I was able to find another copy of ole32.dll, so I'm wondering if I should overwrite the existing version with the one I've downloaded, to see if that might work better somehow. It's looking like I may have to set up a real Windows partition in order to get this working like this guy did: http://appdb.codeweavers.com/appview.php?appId=23&versionId=79 Oh well...again, any help much appreciated.
