[vorbis] downsampling/pealing bitrate from file1.ogg to file2.ogg
the oggenc program does not appear to be capable of taking ogg vorbis as an infile. am i supposed to set up icecast just to change the quality level of an ogg vorbis file? i have a file, say sample-q6.ogg, and i want to do this: oggenc -q4 -o sample-q4.ogg sample-q6.ogg currently the only way to do this is (i think): ogg123 -d raw sample-q6.ogg |oggenc --raw -q4 -o sample-q4.ogg - i am under the impression that the workaround is not optimal and can cause unneccessary loss. i am also understanding the bitrate sampling ability of vorbis as being able to lower a file's bitrate so that the end result would be of the same quality as if the new file had been encoded from the original wav. thanks! -khopesh --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'vorbis-request@xiph.org' containing only the word 'unsubscribe' in the body.
