Monty, What is the penalty if Vorbis Multichannel Coupling is "lossless". ie the codec gives outputs as though each channel was encoded independently? Does specifying "lossless" restrict what you are planning for Vorbis Ambi ? Would we still get 10x compression for most signals with q>5 ? This level of compression would be competitive with Dolby Surround at the 448kB rate.
