I thought I should draw peoples' attention to this recent thread on Hydrogenaudio which describes a particular artifact and an interesting workaround -- it seems that in this case, encoding the two stereo channels separately gives significantly better results (i.e. the artifact is eliminated) than letting Vorbis do its usual point/joint stereo thing: http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=33334&st=0&#entry291666 Perhaps this info will help with future Vorbis encoder work.
