Dear tinc-users, Some days ago, my colleage asked me to help him with his recent problems concerning tinc. His machine refused to reboot, and complained this to syslog: Jul 1 19:51:04 gompie kernel: unregister_netdevice: waiting for testlan to beco me free. Usage count = 2 Jul 1 19:51:44 gompie last message repeated 4 times Jul 1 19:52:54 gompie last message repeated 7 times Jul 1 19:53:54 gompie last message repeated 6 times Jul 1 19:54:14 gompie last message repeated 2 times <snip 30 more lines> At first we thought it might be a tinc problem, since "testlan" is a tinc device, but we soon realized that it must be a kernel problem. I reproduced this bug on another machine like this: It has a working 2.4.20 kernel. Downloaded a 2.4.21 kernel. copyed .config, did make oldconfig answered all new questions No. rebooted No problem so far. Then I rebooted again. I have to go to the colo tomorrow to press the resetbutton of this machine, it pings....but does nothing more. I would recommend against using kernel 2.4.21 on boxes that have tinc at this time.
