theora - Oct 2010 - Theora & Vorbis Finally On iPhone, iPod Touch

Not as good as built-in support but at least people with a newer device have a 
way to put VLC on their iPhones, etc. without jailbreaking. (Sorry original 
iPhone owners.)

A step forward is a step forward, any way you look at it.  I didn't read
the article yet, but any report on the performance?  This is a great way
to extend support to previously locked-out systems.

Great !  Could anyone confirm that clicking a link to an ogv file in safari
could be played in vlc ? I guess installing vlc does not change this f*%!$

Sadly, VLC isn't legally distributable in many countries such as the 
United States due to software patents.

It would be great to get Theora & Vorbis on the iPhone without resorting 
to FFMPEG-based apps.
