As a few may know, Theora will soon go 1.0 in the next release. No more Alpha/Beta confusion. Theora is stable, and it's time we prove that. Theora has also seen a new change in the form of its file extension and MIME type. File extension: .ogv MIME type: video/ogg Software developers are urged to change their programs to deal with these changes accordingly. This is an important step on Theora interoperability, so please do not discard this information. -Ivo

You should not use non-experimental mime types such as this without them having been formally registered. video/ogg is not registered, so should not be used at the moment. video/x-ogg would be the appropriate experimental variant. Some people plan to go through the process to register additional mime types in the future, presumably including this, but nobody has started to do so to my knowledge. Mike

From what I gathered it actually _helps_ to have a MIME type being used prior to registration. Look at RSS.> Some people plan to go through the process to register additional mime > types in the future, presumably including this, but nobody has > started to do so to my knowledge.I am. -Ivo
