I'm pleased to announce the official freeze of the theora 1.0 bitstream format. We wanted to reserve the right to change things if we discovered any issues during the documentation documentation phase. We haven't, so there's no reason to delay adoption any further. The files produced by the alpha-3 encoder constitute the baseline of the theora I format and will be supported by future decoders. So go ahead and start using it! We're collecting content for the upcoming beta launch, so you have something (preferably redistributable) that you think would make a good demo, please let us know. Thanks to everyone whose hard work made this milestone possible. hi we are setting up a multimedia CMS based on vorbis/thoera. -- the system reencode all the video/audio to ogg for be delivered as stream -- -- original ones are left for download only. we need better server for reencode original in original quality to vorbis/theora too. we hope soon-- we are using alpha3 version so i suppose we can continue using it. we tell the linux clients to install helix player form helix-community and the win clients to install this plugin for real one player: https://helixcommunity.org/projects/xiph/ we don't know how mac clients can watch this streams. any idea? well. thanks and congratulations. ergio. <p>Ralph Giles wrote:>I'm pleased to announce the official freeze of the theora 1.0 bitstream >format. If you could answer some newbie questions that would be nice:> The files produced by the alpha-3 encoder constitute the baseline of the > theora I format and will be supported by future decoders. So go ahead > and start using it!Will the example encoder produce any better results in 1.0? For example will the encoded file be smaller or of better quality than now or...? What is the difference between http://svn.xiph.org/trunk/theora-tools/theoraenc/ and http://svn.xiph.org/trunk/theora/examples/encoder_example.c ? Which one should I use (on GNU/Linux)?> We're collecting content for the upcoming beta launch, so you have > something (preferably redistributable) that you think would make a good > demo, please let us know. What kind of content would make a good demo? I have yet to find the source files for FiatLux, though. http://www.debevec.org/FiatLux /Ole --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'theora-request@xiph.org' containing only the word 'unsubscribe' in the body.
