I searched the archive and found where some one posted this same issue, but as far as I can tell it was unresolved. I am trying to turn old Windows computers into thin clients using Thin Station 2.1.3 prebuilt cd. It works great using a cd-rom and floppy disk. I am trying to follow the very brief and vague directions to install it on a hard drive. Thin Station says to use syslinux to make the hard drive bootable. I used an old win98 start up floppy disk to Fdisk the hard. I set up a 500mb active partition. I formatted the hard drive with the /s command so it would be a boot disk. I did the copybs c: c:\dos.bss command and that worked. But when I ran the syslinux command I get the following error message "syslinux: cannot open ldlinux.sys". Originally I was running the syslinux command off of a cd, I just burn the entire syslinux-3.10 folder over. After trying to understand the documentation, I created a simple dos boot floppy and copied over just the ldlinux files and the dos folder, booted from that floppy and tried to run it, same problem. Any help would be appreciated, I am not very familiar with Linux.

Thank you that worked... But, 2 things, one I guess is my lack of knowledge of programming. I tried creating a syslinux.cfg with the following enter: DEFAULT=vmlinuz It still gives me the boot: prompt. I can type in vmlinuz and it will start to load the thinstation linux OS but I start getting errors and the caps lock and the scroll lock flash. VFS: Cannot open root device"" or 03:06 Please append a correct "root=" boot option Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03:06 I am sure that is more of a question for the thinstation folks. Thanks again for your help.> -----Original Message----- > From: H. Thank you again. After I sent the email I stumbled upon how to write the syslinux.cfg. But that only loaded it, still had the root error. After reading your response I figured out to copy the code from the thinstation isolinux.cfg file. Worked, but I had the good old DOS truncated file name issue so it did not read the next config file from the HD. Did some more researched and downloaded a DOS LFN tool and everything is working great! Now that I know what how to set these it up it seems simple, just took some time to learn it, not too much. I really do appreciate these types of forums for help. Eric> -----Original Message----- > From: H.
