Syslinux - Jan 2005 - linuxrc problems..

Hi,

I am having problems with the following ...in linuxrc

 pivot_root . old_root
   exec chroot . /sbin/init 3
     <dev/console >dev/console 2>&1

If I run it from hard disc I get kernel panic ( */dev/initctl missing*)

boot it from CD it works ????

Is the above correct ?
