Hi. There's a rescue cd at ftp://ftp.pld.org.pl/people/areq/RescueCD/ that uses isolinux that don't work in my configuration. All I get is: --8<-- ISOLINUX 1.75 2002-06-14 isolinux: loading spec packet failed, trying to wing it... isolinux: extremly broken bios detected, last ditch attempt with drive=9F isolinux: disk error 80, ax=432E, drive 9F --8<-- My configuration is: VP_IDE: VIA vt82c686a (rev 22) IDE UDMA66 controller on pci00:07.1 CMD649: IDE controller on PCI bus 00 dev 48 hda: TOSHIBA DVD-ROM SD-M1502, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive hdc: SAMSUNG CD-R/RW SW-216B Q001 20010913, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive hde: ST380021A, ATA DISK drive CMD649 is an external IDE controller, that has hard drive connected to it (it says something about installing drive ST38... at 80h.) The problem does not exist when I remove CMD649 from my box. Can you help? wolf -- Bartek . - Zasada superpozycji... nie, to nie z kamasutry. I would say odds are pretty good that your CMD649 screws with your BIOS to the point where ISOLINUX can't work anymore (hence "extremely broken BIOS detected...), but that assumes that the message really said AX=422E not AX=432E. If you have AX=432E then your card has somehow turned the read request into a write request... -hpa
