Speex dev - Oct 2009 - About Speex

Greetings,

My name is Pedro Velez, I'm a student working on the "analysis of a
compression codec for estethoscopic sounds to be transmitted over IP
networks" for my thesis project. I would like to know if this codec
would be suitable for this kind of application since these kind of
sounds can reach up to 4000Hz. If so, I would like to cite and
recommend this codec for further research and use in my university. I
hope I can get a response to this question.

A few questions on your application:

- How much quality do you need?
- What bit-rate do you target?
- Is delay an important factor?

Depending on the answer, the best codec may be Speex or it may be Vorbis
or something else.
