If you get it clamped already after the ADC, I doubt there's much to do about it (except perhaps some smoothing but I'm not sure). I've been toying around with Speex' 4kbs narrowband mode and have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised by the quality - great job there! I noticed one problem though, which seems to be cleanly solved in some way with the XBox Live VoIP implementation - dealing with "clamped" input data when you put the microphone too close to your mouth or are too "loud". Are there clever ways to deal with this problem?
