R in the NY Times-IAsians perspective
R and its GUI Rattle helped me establish a data mining consulting startup on my own, without taking bank credit . People I met on the forum and especially books like rforsasandspssusers.com/ <http://rforsasandspssusers.com/> helped me ease the transition to the new Object Oriented method from the earlier - even a monkey can create shakespeare if he types enough kind of analytics software.

Ashlee Vance's article on R in the New York Times
Ashlee Vance's article on R in the New York Times. This is typical of the New York Times. Because they get to coast on the prestige and reputation of their brand , they have a history of just this sort of journalistic sloppiness. Whether it's the author or the editor at fault doesn't really matter, they do this screw-up all the time. Look, if you write an article on the first page of

Dear R-help, There seems to be a web page I am unable to download using RCurl. I don't understand why it won't download: > library(RCurl) > my.url <- "http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/07/technology/business-computing/07program.html?_r=2" > getURL(my.url) [1] "" Other web pages are ok to download but this is the first time I have been unable to download a

AT&T Researchers and the New York Times
Is anyone in the leadership of the R-project going to contact the New York Times and clarify that the article gave remarkably short shrift to the people who designed the user interface for R, to a large extent AT&T researchers from an earlier generation? It would be the appropriate thing to do. The R team did not develop the user interface for R, the designers of the S programming language

Indexer crash when fixing incorrectly named Maildir files
Hi, If the indexer encounters, and fixes by renaming, an incorrectly named file, it crashes immediately afterwards. I would guess the old file-name is re-used after re-naming and but isn't checked because it is assumed to exist having come from a listing of directory contents. dovecot: indexer-worker(<username>): Error: Maildir filename has wrong S value, renamed the file from

Re: ANY HOPE GETTING RESPONSE TO QUESTIONS? - samba3.0alpha15 - solar is 8
First, don't shout when you set the subject. It just looks like spam. >* Why does testparm complain about can't find include file? > Can't find include file Something tells me that you have an include line in your conf file in the form of include = /usr/local/samba/lib/smb.conf.%m which it tries to include, for every machine that accesses your server, and of course fails,

Interface to open source Reporting tools
Hi, I am a new user of R 2.8.1. I use Tinn-R for code editing. I use a windows 2003 system with 1 GB RAM. I am interested to generate dashboard and reports based on data from MS Access. These reports need to be posted on a weekly basis to the web. The reporting interface should provide facilities for "what if" scenarios. Is it possible to interface R analysis results to good open

Using RDF/OWL with R?
Hello, Is there a convenient way to import RDF/OWL data into R? I'm interested in importing BioPAX/SBPAX data into R to make them available for a wider audience. One exciting application would be to use pathway data to explain differential microarray measurements by identifying upstream nodes that are likely involved in causing the differences. This could also be used to validate
