Vectorizing sample()
I am simulating sickness among a group of families. Part of the task is
to randomly draw who in the family will be sick, randomly drawing from
family ID's where Dad =1, Mom = 2, Kid1 = 3, Kid2 = 4., etc. My census of
Dads is of the form shown below.

loglik and arima()
All -
I am evaluating an arima(2,1,3) and arima(3,1,3) and notice the
log-likelihood of the restricted model is higher than the log-likelihood
of the unrestricted.
Since these are nested models, I thought the unrestricted model would have
a log-likelihood at least as large as that of the restricted model. Am I
interpreting the "loglik" output incorrectly?

Answering Machine Detection
I am having a bit of a problem getting AMD to work on a new server. On
my regular office server it works like a charm. I am running Asterisk
1.4.13, Zaptel 1.4.5.1 on both machines. Both servers run CentOS 5 and
I am using a SIP trunk to send out calls (the same one on both servers).
Here is the output of a call on my office server:

AMD on a SIP trunk...
We have an Asterisk server with a small outgoing call center. We use
AMD and it usually works very well on Zap channels (E1 PRI). We added a
couple of SIP trunks to reduce long distance costs but now AMD gets
stuck when the call goes out through the SIP channels. Here is an
example call using a SIP line:

dramatic speed difference in lapply
So I have a function that does lapply's for me based on dimension. Currently
only works for length(pivotColumns)=2 because I haven't fixed the rbinds. I
have two versions. One runs WAYYY faster than the other. And I'm not sure
why.
Fast Version:
fedb.ddplyWrapper2Fast <- function(data, pivotColumns, listNameFunctions,
...){

Viewing code
How do you view the code for a built-in R command (i.e., if I want to see
what R is doing when I run a glm() statement)?

logistic regression - using polys and products of features
Hi
I can get all my features by doing this:
> logistic.model = glm(similarity ~ ., family=binomial, data =
cData[3001:3800,])
I can get the product of all my features by this:
logistic.model = glm(similarity ~ . ^ 2, family=binomial, data =
cData[3001:3800,])
I don't seem to be able to get polys by doing this:
logistic.model = glm(similarity ~ poly(.,2), family=binomial, data

[RFC] Introducing convergence control bundles and intrinsics
Hi all,
please see https://reviews.llvm.org/D85603 and its related changes for
our most recent and hopefully final attempt at putting the `convergent`
attribute on a solid theoretical foundation in a way that is useful for
modern GPU compiler use cases. We have clear line of sight to enabling a
new control flow implementation in the AMDGPU backend which is built on
this foundation. I have

location of key in panels of trellis plot
Hi,
I want to insert a key into each panel of a trellis plot, which I can do
with a custom panel function that calles draw.key. The problem arises
because I want the top right hand corner of the key to start in the top
right hand corner of the panel. If you run my code below, you can see that
the key appears in the center of each panel. This is because the default
viewport in draw.key is the

My preference, which is implicitly expressed in the review, is to use
`convergent` both for the new and the old thing. They are implicitly
distinguished via the "convergencectrl" operand

Answering Machine Detection
If i use AMD() or the code below, now the problem is the fax machine/modem detection and answer machine detection get detected as the same. If i need to seperate the two how do i do that? For example, if i use AMD() to detect an answer machine by saying any greeting exceeding 2.5 seconds is a machine, how do i distinguish between a fax/modem and a long greeting?

Can't create audio conversation between softphones through Asterisk
Hello,
I have two user machines, each with a jain-sip-applet-phone installed on it. I use the following process to try to make a call:
1. Register each phone with the Asterisk server (working).
2. Add a contact in each phone which is the other user. (Get a "489 Bad Event" SIP error shown below in red)

Autocomplete broken after update to Rails 1.0
When I upgraded to 1.0, I broke autocomplete on a field. I''ve done
everything that I can think of to fix the problem, but nothing has
worked. I''m able to recreate a simple autocomplete from examples on the
various tutorials, but my original code just will not work.
