survey package
Version 3.9 of the survey package is now on CRAN. Since the last
announcement (version 3.6-11, about a year ago) the main changes are
- Database-backed survey objects: the data can live in a SQLite (or other
DBI-compatible) database and be loaded as needed.
- Ordinal logistic regression
- Support for the 'mitools' package and multiply-imputed data
- Conditioning plots,

pMCMC and HPD in MCMCglmm
Dear R users,
I?d like to pose aquestion about pMCMC and HDP.
I have performed a mixed logistic regression by MCMCglmm (a very good package)
obtaining the following results:

Thinning interval = 100
Sample size = 5500

svyplot and svysmooth with hexbin
Hi all-
So sorry to bother you all with something pretty basic.
I am trying to add the lines method output from svysmooth to a svyplot with style="grayhex". However, the line either appears in the wrong place or if I am running in R Studio it causes the system to crash.
I know this is something to do with Lattice graphics, but for the life of me I can not figure out how. Dr. Lumley

Creating tiff with 1200 dpi
Hi all,
I am trying to create images in R suitable for journal publication. I'd
like to make an image that is 3.6" wide and 5.08" length, and 1200 dpi.
When I create a tiff file that is 800 dpi and 4x4", it works (although
doesn't look good).
But when I create a tiff that is the size and dpi I want, it doesn't
work. I get the following error:
Error in tiff(filename =

Risk differences with survey package
I'm trying to use the survey package to calculate a risk difference with
confidence interval for binge drinking between sexes. Variables are
X_RFBING2 (Yes, No) and SEX. Both are factors. I can get the group
prevalences easily enough with
result <- svyby(~X_RFBING2, ~SEX, la04.svy, svymean, na.rm = TRUE)
and then extract components from the svyby object with SE() and coef() to
do the

Unexpected scores from weighted PCA with svyprcomp()
Hello!
I'd like to create an assets-based economic indicator using data from a
national household survey. The economic indicator is to be the first
principal component from a principal components analysis, which (given
the source of the data) I believe should take in consideration the
sampling weights of the observations. After running the PCA with
svyprcomp(), from the survey package, I

Dear all
I was wondering whether such a long post could be fortune-ed. What do you think?

git public web frontends
Hello,
Set up a CentOS 7.5 VM linode for git now that github has been bought.
I'm not anti-microsoft but I'm worried they will make changes that I
don't like (e.g. requiring ms account, changing billing, etc.) so I
figured better take control now.
Currently moving my private repos and have them set up in my home
directory there, but my public repos - I want to set them up with a

How do you make a formal "feature" request?
Who decides what features are in R and how they are implemented? If there is someone here who has that authority I have this request:
A report() function analogous to the plot() function that makes it easy to generate a report from a table of data. This should not be in some auxiliary package, but part of the core R just like plot(). As a long time SAS user I cannot believe R does not have this.

Digium Asterisk World at ITEXPO - Yahoo keynote update
I don't know how many of you are going to be at ITEXPO/Digium Asterisk
World in Miami next week - I hope to see as many of you as possible,
though.
There has been an interesting change in the line-up for the show, that
I think bears mentioning here since it possibly will help quite a few
of you in your discussions about getting Asterisk into your company.
We've had the good

What had you using GitHub in the first place, then? Is it just the web UI, since you?ve apparently decided that none of
