R2.2.1 source compile problem in MacOS10.3
Dear R-list,
Realising the importance of updating the R base, I tried to compile the
source file of R2.2.1 in my machine, but failed.
According to "R for Mac OS X FAQ", i've got the basic dependencies
which are gcc 3.3 and g77 3.4.
./configure is fine
Here are the errors I got from make:
>make

gcc -I../../src/extra/zlib -I../../src/extra/bzip2

Error in load(dataFile, myEnv)
Dear all,
I just found that some of the packages are not able to load any more,
after I installed R2.0.1 in my Mac, it even affects my old R1.8
installs.
It gives me errors when I load packages that contains "myEnv" settings.
such as: RMySQL, DBI, Rggobi, etc. But others that does not require
"myENV" is all right, like tcltk that only calls the c functions.
The errors

pl/R and MacOS X using R binary
I'm sorry if this is too off-topic--feel free to ignore. I am
interested in using pl/R, an amazing "plugin" for the postgresql
database. As is typical of these types of applications, pl/R needs to
link against a shared library. However, it appears that the MacOS R
binary does not build a static (.so) shared library. Is there an
accepted, general way (read, a way that works)

installing R and Rcmdr onMacOS 10.3.9
I have been trying to install the new, patched R 2.1.0a along with the
Rcmdr on my mac. I got the basic R package installed, but in Project
Manager, the tcltk package will not install.
When I downloaded the Rcmdr binary package from the Berkeley site, it
did not show up on the package installer list until a second attempt,
but it still does not show up on the package manager list.

Copio y pego un ejemplo, utilizando optiSel, no importa este sino el mensaje relacionado a RGL y como trabaja el sistema operativo.

A point in a vector?
Dear list,
I have a strange requirement .... I have a vector, for example v<-
c(0,0,0,0,1,2,4,6,8,8,8,8). I have a value,for example x<- 4.8.
I would like to understand in which sub interval of v is x. In this case, v
would be in the sub interval [4,6] that is in the subinterval starting from
element j=7 to the element j+1=8.
Can we do that with an R command?
Regards

Dear friends,
Do you know how to calculate the CONCAVE hull of a set of points (2-
dimensional or n-dimensional)? is that possible in R? (With a "smoothing"
parameter of course).

cluster analysis
Hello. I wonder if anyone can help me with this.
I'm performing cluster analysis by using hclust in stats package.
My data are contained in a data frame with 10 columns, named "drops".
Firs I create a distance matrix using dist:
distanxe <- dist(drops)
Then I perform cluster analysis via hclust:
clusters <- hclust(distanze)
At this point I want to view the tree

Using very large matrix
Dear friends,
I have to use a very large matrix. Something of the sort of
matrix(80000,80000,n) .... where n is something numeric of the sort 0.xxxxxx
I have not found a way of doing it. I keep getting the error
Error in matrix(nrow = 80000, ncol = 80000, 0.2) : too many elements specified
Any suggestions? I have searched the mailing list, but to no avail.

From THE R BOOK -> Warning: In eval(expr, envir, enclos) : non-integer #successes in a binomial glm!
Dear friends,
I am testing glm as at page 514/515 of THE R BOOK by M.Crawley, that is
on proportion data.
I use glm(y~x1+,family=binomial)
y is a proportion in (0,1), and x is a real number.
I get the error:
In eval(expr, envir, enclos) : non-integer #successes in a binomial glm!
But that is exactly what was suggested in the book, where there is no
mention of a similar warning. Where am I

goodness of "prediction" using a model (lm, glm, gam, brt, regression tree .... )
Dear R-friends,
How do you test the goodness of prediction of a model, when you predict on a
set of data DIFFERENT from the training set?
I explain myself: you train your model M (e.g. glm, gam, regression tree, brt)
on a set of data A with a response variable Y. You then predict the value of
that same response variable Y on a different set of data B (e.g. predict.glm,
predict.gam and so on).
