Heteroskedasticity in Tobit models
Hello,
I've had no luck finding an R package that has the ability to estimate a
Tobit model allowing for heteroskedasticity (multiplicative, for example).
Am I missing something in survReg? Is there another package that I'm
unaware of? Is there an add-on package that will test for
heteroskedasticity?
Thanks for your help.
Cheers,

Parallel Processing and Linear Regression
Does anybody have any suggestions regarding applying standard regression
packages lm(), hccm(), and others within a parallel environment? Most of
the packages I've found only deal with iterative processes (bootstrap) or
simple linear algebra. While the latter might help, I'd rather not program
the estimation code. I'm currently using a IA-64 Teragrid system through UC
San Diego.

fixed effects with clustered standard errors
Dear R-helpers,
I have a very simple question and I really hope that someone could help me
I would like to estimate a simple fixed effect regression model with clustered standard errors by individuals.
For those using Stata, the counterpart would be xtreg with the "fe" option, or areg with the "absorb" option and in both case the clustering is achieved with "vce(cluster

fixed effects linear model in R
Dear R-helpers,
First of all, sorry for those who have (eventually) already received that request.
The mail has been bumped several times, so I am not sure the list has received it... and I need help (if you have time)! ;-)

Manual two-way demeaning of unbalanced panel data (Wansbeek/Kapteyn transformation)
Dear R users,
I wish to manually demean a panel over time and entities. I tried to code
the Wansbeek and Kapteyn (1989) transformation (from Baltagi's book Ch. 9).
As a benchmark I use both the pmodel.response() and model.matrix() functions
in package plm and the results from using dummy variables. As far as I
understood the transformation (Ch.3), Q%*%y (with y being the dependent
variable)

robust standard errors for panel data - corrigendum
Hello again Max. A correction to my response from yesterday. Things were better than they seemed.
I thought it over, checked Arellano's panel book and Driscoll and Kraay (Rev. Econ. Stud. 1998) and finally realized that vcovSCC does what you want: in fact, despite being born primarily for dealing with cross-sectional correlation, 'SCC' standard errors are robust to "both

[LLVMdev] ValueMapper question: no type mapping for GlobalValue?
Hi all, I was looking at the ValueMapper code this morning and I notice that
it doesn't do type mapping for GlobalValues. Is this correct?
I ask because I am seeing a case where I'm failing type assertions from
ModuleLinker::linkGlobalInits() when an array initializer references an
external global. It looks like the external global is being mapped directly
and this causes an element

MA process in panels
Dear R users,
I have an unbalanced panel with an average of I=100 individuals and a total
of T=1370 time intervals, i.e. T>>I. So far, I have been using the plm
package.
I wish to estimate a FE model like:
res<-plm(x~c+v, data=pdata_frame, effect="twoways", model="within",
na.action=na.omit)
?where c varies over i and t, and v represents an exogenous impact on x

Thanks for all of your help (OP isn't savvy--what was your first clue?

The questions i have is,
Are there people using it is Aussie?( I would say yes so prob answered

[LLVMdev] Preferring to use GCC instead of LLVM

I disagree. gas and ld are not available on Windoze, except
via MinGW. Yes I can make or tell my customers to install
MinGW, but if MinGW is installed, then I don't need LLVM.

Directly Get CTDB or SMB Status/Stats?
Is there a way to get CTDB or Samba status/stats w/o forking a process? I
am looking into writing Prometheus exporters for these. I'd prefer to make
a "C" call in Golang than fork a process and scrape STDOUT. What are my
options?
Thank you!

Bug in package stats function ar() (PR#10459)
Full_Name: Steven McKinney
Version: 2.6.0
OS: OS X
Submission from: (NULL) (142.103.207.10)
Function ar() in package "stats" is showing
a quirky bug. Some calls to ar() run to
completion, others throw an error.
The bug is reproducible by several people on different
machines, however, the ar() function itself ends
up throwing the error sporadically. Several calls to
ar() may be

I also installed tinc on Windows 2000 machine on a remote location.
for this moment I can establish connection, on Linux machine tincd says:

theta parameter - plm package
Hi all,
what indicates the parameter theta in the summary of a random effect
panel model estimated with the plm function?
example:
data("Produc", package = "plm")
zz <- plm(log(gsp) ~ log(pcap) + log(pc) + log(emp) + unemp,
model="random", data = Produc, index = c("state","year"))

pam_smbpass and ldap
On a Debian 3.0 system with user accounts stored in openldap, I have
unix and windows auth working just fine through ldap. smbpasswd can
change the samba passwd attributes, and passwd can change the unix
password attributes.
I'm trying to get pam_smbpass to work to keep everything in sync, but
it only says "Failed to find entry for user test0." which indicates to
me that its
