3D plots with data.frame
Dear all,
Thank you for any help. I have a data.frame and would like to plot
it in 3D. I have tried wireframe() and cloud(), I got

if else statement
Hello,
I'm doing some scripting and I've noticed that R doesn't seem to
have an
if (cond){
do
}ifelse (cond) {
do
} else {
do
}
type block.
Is this correct or am I missing something.

installing rgl package on linux suse 10.1
Dear R wizards,
In windows I get really cool graphs with the rgl package.
However on linux, it seems that I can't install one of my favourite packages.
I get a error message on X11, but all X11 packages are installed on my linux
desktop.
Who can help me out here?
Thanks!

persp3d and rgl.viewpoint for rotating 3D plots
Dear R-users,
within the rgl-package, I would have a question about the usage of persp3d in combination of rgl.viewpoint.
I am not able to figure out how to let a 3D plot rotating around likewise the example in ?rgl.viewpoint. It seems that when I use persp3d(...) I see something on my screen, which is different from what I get when it's rotating. Is there any different behavior between

better define: matrix comparison and cbind issue
Hello,
Sorry to all for the lack of communication, and thanks to those with the
suggestions.
So I have two matrixes which are different sizes, same column number but
different row number.
What I would like to do is to compare A to B. In the 6 and 9th column there
are ref numbers (molecular masses to be exact). I would like to check A and
B by these columns. If I find that the number in A[9,x]

rgl.Sweave not producing transparency in pdf plots with alpha
Hi Folks,
I'm trying to get rgl.Sweave to produce plots with transparency.
However, it just seems to produce opaque plots when pdf is the output
type. Perhaps this is a known issue? I'll just use .png in the
meantime, but wanted to see about this, as I didn't see it in the
documentation (though it's possible I missed it).
Thanks,
Allie

data type for block data?
Dear All,
I have a matrix with data that is not organised. I would like to go
through this and extract it. Each feature has 2 vectors which express
the data. I also have an index of the places where the data should be cut.
eg.

"matrix"
>cc

[2,] 2 27
[3,] 3 28

Nodes & edges with similarity matrix
Hello,
I apologise if someone has already answered this but I searched and
googled but didn't find anything.
I have a matrix which gives me the similarity of each item to each
other. I would like to turn this matrix into something like what they
have in the graph package with the nodes and edges.

a method to

Three dimensional view of the profiles using 'rgl' package (example of 3 dimensional graphics using rgl package).
Hi there,
Anyone has an idea how to put those two sets of code together so that I can get a 3-dimensional picture that includes points instead of 2 separate pictures which doesnt make that much sense at the end.
#Let's say that these are the data we would like to plot:
A<-c(62,84,53)
B<-c(64,82,55)
C<-c(56,74,41)
D<-c(46,68,38)
E<-c(71,98,72)
data<-rbind(A,B,C,D,E)

Time plots
Hello all and thank you,
I will try to make this as clear as I can. I have a matrix, at the
top of the matrix are 4 time points, the first col describes the sample,
then under each time point I have the intensity values of that sample.
So :
Samples 0 10 30 120 <- time
A 200 300 400 1000 <- data
B 100 400 200 100
C 500 400 200 1000

I would like to plot these however, all I

rgl.snapshot() on Vista
Dear Daniel (and Duncan):
back in January you reported that you were having trouble saving an rgl
movie on Vista. I don't know if you ever got that resolved, but a
student of mine is now having a similar problem, not specific to dynamic
graphics (which would have to be a problem outside of rgl anyway). He
may report more on the symptoms, but essentially rgl.snapshot produces
black or funky

two plots side-by-side with persp3d(rgl)
Dear R-users,
I would like to place two 3D plots side-by-side in a rgl-setting. It would nice to have something like "par(mfrow=c(1,2))" for basic plots, or an array framework for wireframe(lattice) (see example below). I only managed to overlap two persp3d plots.
My final idea would be to animate both surfaces using play3d(rgl).
Thanks in advance for any help.

linear gradient in nls
Hello,
I hope this doesn't turn into a statistics question but here I
go. I am using the nls function with a Gaussian distribution, see coding
below. When I run the nls I get an error back saying that I have a linear
gradient. I then, of course am unable to do anything else. The data that I
am using are intensity values from some mass spectrometry data. Is there
something I can

I'm checking a new release of vcdExtra via win builder with R-devel

I have one S3 generic, mosaic3d() that uses rgl and don't want to have
rgl always loaded
via Depends:. Instead, the mosaic3d.default() method includes
if (!require(rgl)) stop("rgl is required")
This always worked in the past, but

rgl build warnings and loading error on Linux
Dear useRs,
I have several problems in using rgl-0.77 (and recent earlier
versions) on Gentoo Linux with a custom-built v. 2.6.22 kernel.
Currently I use R-2.6.1.
When I build rgl,

or
install.packages("rgl", dependencies=TRUE, method ="wget"),
I notice the following warning messages:

Error with rgl loading in BATCH mode
Dear all,
I'm trying to run a script that requires KernSmooth in BATCH mode but I get
an error while loading rgl library that is needed by KernSmooth. Actually I
have to run several batch files through a queue of a cluster, so I wouldn't
need graphics at all.
I installed the latest releases of R (2.6.1) and rgl on my CentOS 4.2 Linux
(clone of Red Hat EL) endowed with Rocks 4.2.1 suite

rgl.snapshot only captures a small portion what's visible in the RGL device window on CentOS 7
Dear R-SIG-Fedora,
I'm finding that on CentOS 7, rgl.snapshot (a function in the R package rgl, which provides an R interface to the OpenGL 3-d graphics library) only captures a small portion what's visible in the RGL device window. This does not happen with the same R and rgl versions on CentOS 5.3 (see details below).
The maintainer of rgl, Duncan Murdoch, responded (see below) that
