Changing 'record' option in open graphics device
Hi,
I am wondering if there is a way to change the value of the "record" option
in a graphics device that is already open (and accepts this option). I
don''t want to open a new device with, for example "dev.new(record=T)", but
just want to change the settings of the current device. This can be done by
pointing and clicking on the "history" tab of a

Two questions about the cloud function in the lattice package
Hi,
I have two questions regarding the cloud function in the lattice
package:
1) Is there a way to not print the surrounding frame (i.e. the square
surrounding the entire plot)?
2) Is there a way to italicize the text displayed with the key argument?
Some sample code:
data(iris)
cloud(Sepal.Length~Petal.Length*Petal.Width,data=iris,
groups=Species,screen=list(z=20,x=-70),

deSolve question
Dear All,
I like to simulate a physiologically based pharmacokinetics model using R
but am having a problem with the daspk routine.
The same problem has been implemented in Berkeley madonna and Winbugs so
that I know that it is working. However, with daspk it is not, and the
numbers are everywhere!
Please see the following and let me know if I am missing something...
Thanks a lot in advance,

Tick marks in cloud (lattice)
Hi! Probably a simple question, but I can't get any tick marks in the 3d
scatterplot I created using the cloud function.
The following works to display the three groups using different symbols:
data(iris)
cloud(Sepal.Length ~ Petal.Length * Petal.Width, data = iris, cex = 1.2,
groups = Species, pch = c(16,1,1), col = c("black","black","red"),

singular.ok in lm
Dear R users,
I'm wondering about the singular.ok option in lm. If singular.ok is
set to TRUE does it mean that we allow the generalized inverse of
(X'X)^-1 (where X are the independent variables and ' denotes the
transpose)? Or is the singularity handled in some other way?
Thank you!
Best regards,
Martin.

knots fixed in gam(), library(mgcv)
Dear all,
I have a problem with specifying the no. of knots in our function which
include gam(). I last worked with this in mid September but since then I
have reinstalled R and Simon Wood's library(mgcv), which he has changed
since then. The statistician (and good R-coder) with whom I co-operate is
now unfortunately overloaded with teaching, and I'm in the sprut of my
thesis.... I

ODESOLVE
Dear All,
I am experiencing a difficulty with the "lsoda" function in ODESOLVE
library; my differentiation function contains a covariate changes with time,
and I don't know how to incorporate that without using loops and so on. Does
anyone know how to do it?
Your help will be very much appreciated!!

Example Syntax for if - then- and - else Statements
Hello R users,
I am a fairly new R user, however, one of the problems I am having is
the use of applying if-, and-, then-, else- statements in R against
datasets & dataframe. Rtips mentions it, but without simple examples I
am not quite sure what my syntax should look like. I am particularly
interested in syntax that can be used with the transform function. for
example

Hi,
I think there is a bug in the windows graph history procedure, here is what
happens:
1. open R
2. 'library(lattice)'
3. 'xyplot(0~0)'
4. Turn on recording in the graphical window
5. Add plot to history
4. 'plot.new()'
5. 'xyplot(1~1)'

Covariate model in nlme
Dear R users,
I am using nlme to fit a pharmacokinetic model. The base model is
parameterized in terms of CL, V1, V2 and Q.

data = data2, fixed=list(CL+Q+V1+V2~1),
random = pdDiag(CL+V1+V2~1),

gam questions
Dear all,
I'm a fairly new R user having two questions regarding gam:
1. The prediction example on p. 38 in the mgcv manual. In order to get
predictions based on the original data set, by leaving out the 'newdata'
argument ("newd" in the example), I get an error message
"Warning message: the condition has length > 1 and only the first element

I'm looking for someone, perhaps particularly a stats student, who

analyse routine data that psychotherapists might submit on a cgi-bin
interface and perhaps cross-referencing that against some largish
referential data to which I have access.

Learning to do randomized block design analysis
We just studied randomized block design analysis in my statistics class,
and I'm trying to learn how to do them in R. I'm trying to duplicate a

Questions about saving output files and popup
Hi all:
After calculating in R I want to show the answer and some explanations not
graphic plots in another new device and then save it as txt.file. However, I
couldn't find any package or command to do it yet. I know some commands about
generating graphics on different types of display or printing device. ex :
windows(), postscript(), pdf() and etc. But these all works for graphic plots,
