(no subject)
R-Help, I am trying to do simple plots of the characteristics of cellular phones. I am values that fit along an axis that has many data points around 800 and 1800. I am not interested in the "dead space' between the two clusters of data. I am not interested in a linear axis. I would like to "cut out" the white space between the two pockets of data when plotting. I

postscript() filenames with forward slashes cause abort
My newly installed R-2.1.0 apparently doesn't like forward slashes in filenames: > R.version.string [1] "R version 2.1.0, 2005-04-18" > plotfile <- "\home\mean_monthly_stl.eps" > postscript(plotfile) > plotfile <- "/home/mean_monthly_stl.eps" > postscript(plotfile) *** glibc detected *** double free or corruption (!prev): 0x098e7180 *** Abort

ff for 64 bit R for windows gui?
Hi, folks: I am running 64-bit R on a 64 bit machine under 64 bit Windows 7. I'd like to try the package ff, but it is not clear to me whether the current version of ff will work in a 64 bit environment. The windows version is "compiled," which suggests that there is more than just R p-code. Do any of you know whether the current compiled version of ff will work in my

Factanal fits
Greetings, all: I am using factanal in R. When I enter a matrix or a formula, the print method winds up with something like this: Test of the hypothesis that 6 factors are sufficient. The chi square statistic is 28.1 on 22 degrees of freedom. The p-value is 0.172 But when I enter a covmat, the print method winds up with something like this: The degrees of freedom for the model is 22 and the

ff for 64-bit windows and 64-bit R
Lawrence, My understanding is that only a minor change is needed in ff's C++ layer in order to remove the 64bit compiler warnings/errors. The C++ layer is maintained by Daniel Adler, who can give you an outlook if/when he plans to attack this. Until a 64bit version of ff is available, you might consider using the 32bit win version of R and ff on a 64bit win machine: while 32bit R itself

Code contributed for a gant (Gantt) chart
I searched CRAN for material on gant (or Gantt) charts, those schedule plots that look like horizontal barplots where the x-axis is time. Finding none, I wrote the following and am submitting it to the archive so that it may help someone in the future. plotfile <- "gant.eps" regular.color <- "lightgray" important.color <- "yellow" tasks <- list() #

how to create normalized pdf plot?
Hello, I have multiple data files. Each file contains a single column and 1.5 million rows. I want to create normalized pdfs (area under curve is 1) and histograms to compare with one another. Could anybody suggest if there exists an easy way or built in function in R. At present I am using Origin and Excel together to do this. A single file needs 10 minutes and I have a total of 929 files! So

Outlook strange behaviour...
Hi all, I have a Dovecot server(dovecot-0.99.14) running with IMAP support, running on a Fedora 2 system. Outlook (2003) users receive duplicate mail, "the" second mail doesn't have a title, when clicking on it, we are getting "non fully downloaded" error message. When deleting the "orignal" mail, all duplicates gets deleted too. Any ideas? Thanks in advance,

plots from batchfile on windows
Hi, On windows I'd like to run a batchfile that leaves me a plot. As a test I have the scriptfile "test.r" which only contains: x <- 1:10; y <- sample( 10 ) plot( x, y ) Now I tried the following (but nothing worked): a) "R --vanilla < test.r" in the cmd window, => that doesn't give me a plot b) the same, but I added

display SVG, PNG, GIF, JPEG, TIFF, PPM in new plot frame
Dear R-help I want to display an image file in a new plot frame. SVG is my preferred format, but I can also consider PNG, GIF, JPEG, TIFF, and PPM (from ImageMagick). By way of background (although not material to this posting), the image file is generated by a call to 'dot' (part of the 'Graphviz' suite) after the required .dot file has been produced using hand-crafted R code.
