[PATCH][cpufreq] Xen support for the ondemand governor [2/2] (linux)
Modify the cpufreq ondemand governor so that it can get idle and total ticks from the Xen hypervisor. Linux and Xen have different ideas of what an idle tick is, so the Xen values for both have to be returned in the same platform hypercall. Otherwise, use basically the same scheme as native Linux. Converting R help files to S-Plus 6 sgml, html
I have help files in several formats. Up until now I have converted nroff files to S-Plus 6 sgml and html files using Splus doc_to_S ... (creates .sgml file) Splus HINSTALL ... (creates .sgm and .html files) I maintain master help files in R .Rd files, and for some of my functions converting from .Rd to .sgm using R CMD Rdconv --type=Ssgm ... produces better .sgm files than beginning with

agnes clustering and NAs
Hello, In the documentation for agnes in the package 'cluster', it says that NAs are allowed, and sure enough it works for a small example like : > m <- matrix(c( 1, 1, 1, 2, 1, NA, 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 2), nrow = 3, byrow = TRUE) > agnes(m) Call: agnes(x = m) Agglomerative coefficient: 0.1614168 Order of objects: [1] 1 2 3 Height (summary): Min. 1st Qu. sync reads or big files problem
Hello, friends! I vahe a problem using prototype1.4 in IE6. I am trying to create bandwidth speed test tool. The idea is to download one by one X times (i.e. 10) one and the same ASCII-file with size = 1MB. I would like to measure time and speed of each run, to display the intermediate results after aech run and finally after all X rund display total results as average of all runs. But when I

maximum likelihood, 1st and 2nd derivative
Hi guys again, it seems I haven't been doing the maximum likelihood estimation correctly. I quote below, can someone explain to me please what does it mean that the 2nd and 3rd derivatives of the function equals zero and how to compute that in R. "We have our initial estimated, subjective parameters for the gamma mixture and we have our likelihood that is the mixture of negative

Rdconv --type=Ssgm drops singleton keywords (PR#9051)
If an Rd file has only one keyword entry then the Splus sgm file made with Rdconv --type=SSgm has no keyword entries. To reproduce: Use prompt() to make a skeleton help file R> f<-function(x)log(1+x)-log1p(x) R> prompt(f) Created file named 'f.Rd'. Edit the file and move it to the appropriate directory. R> q() It has 2 \keyword entries in it

maximum likelihood estimation of 5 parameters
Hi Guys, it would be great if you could help me with a MLE problem in R. I am trying to evaluate the maximum likelihood estimates of theta = (a1, b1, a2, b2, P) which defines a mixture of a Poisson distribution and two gamma prior distributions (where the Poisson means have a gamma distribution, actually 2 gammas and P is the mixing factor). The likelihood function for theta is L(theta) = Pi,j{P

Problems with R CMD Rdconv and R CMD Sd2Rd (PR#8661)
I'm using R 2.2.0 on Windows. Doing some conversions of help files. Internal comments indicate that the Sd2Rd conversion is "Converted by Sd2Rd version 1.21." I'm converting .d -> .Rd .sgml -> .Rd using Sd2Rd, then checking by using Rdconv to convert .Rd back to .d or .sgml. Here are errors in some of the conversions. The most significant errors are in .Rd to .sgml.

How to test combined effects?
Suppose I have a mixed-effects model where yij is the jth sample for the ith subject: yij= beta0 + beta1(age) + beta2(age^2) + beta3(age^3) + beta4(IQ) + beta5(IQ^2) + beta6(age*IQ) + beta7(age^2*IQ) + beta8(age^3 *IQ) +random intercepti + eij In R how can I get an F test against the null hypothesis of beta6=beta7=beta8=0? In SAS I can run something like contrast age*IQ 1,

Why doesn't outer work?
Hello I'm a population ecologist and use R for all my stats and modelling. Recently I have been using R to numerically solve integral projection models. This involves constructing several large matrices. The current code by Easterling (Size-specific sensitivity: Applying a new structured population model. Ecology, 2000, 81, 694-708) uses nested loops to construct the matrices. To speed up the

Adding up intervals by activity
Hello all, I have a data frame with the following columns: timestamp, activity, interval. Each row contains information about an activity that occured over a time interval. "Timestamp" is when the interval ended, "Activity" is a factor that represents the type of activity, and "Interval" is a double which represents an interval in time. The data frame is sorted

LDA in R: how to extract full equation, especially constant term
Hi, Having dipped my toe into R a few times over the last year or two, in the last few weeks I've been using it more and more; I'm now a thorough convert. I've just joined the list, because although it's great, I do have this problem... I'm using linear discriminant analysis for binary classification, and am happy with the classification performance using predict(). What

Using RSPerl with add-on package ctest and named parameters
Hi,. I've installed RSPerl on my Linux box. It runs all of the test scripts that I've been able to find. I've learned that I can pass in vectors of data as array-refs, and can use named parameters with R::callWithNames and a hash of names and values. The one problem that I'm left with is how to call a function from an add-on package ('ctest' in this case). I know that

Hola Freddy. [R-pkgs] heplots 0.9-3 and candisc 0.5-18 released to CRAN
I've just released the latest R-Forge versions of heplots 0.9-3 and candisc 0.5-18 to CRAN. They should appear there within a day or two. == heplots The heplots package provides functions for visualizing hypothesis tests in multivariate linear models (MANOVA, multivariate multiple regression, MANCOVA, etc.). They represent sums-of-squares-and-products matrices for linear hypotheses and for
