tcltk, X11 protocol error: Bug?
Hi, I am having trouble debugging this one. The code is attached below, but it seems to be a problem at the C-tk interface. If I run this 1 time there are no problems if I run it more than once I start to get warnings that increase in multiples of 11 everytime I run it. Here is a sample session > source("clrramp2.r") Loading required package: tcltk Loading Tcl/Tk interface ... done

Problem with geometry manager in TclTK
Hello, everyone. I have the following problem with TclTk: I create some windows and want to change their position with geometry manage (sometimes they will be centered, sometimes not). If the toplevel is created and its dimensions are gathered via 'tkwinfo', I get (usually) correct values. However, if this window is created by a function (in the following example, by 'ask.format')

Scrolling a tkcanvas non-starter
Hello, Is it possible to scroll a canvas that has a column of listboxes in it? Does scrolling only work with listboxes and text widgets? The following code displays the scrollbar, but - it has no thumb - does not respond to mouse clicks. - the vertical height of the tkcanvas (i.e. column1) is unconstrained. It's lower edge is out of view, and the lower button on the scrollbar is out of

Question about unicode characters in tcltk
hello list, Can someone help me figure out why the following code doesn't work? I'm trying to but both Greek letters and subscripts into a tcltk menu. The code creates all the mu's, and the 1 and 2 subscripts, but it won't create the 0. Is there a certain set of characters that R won't recognize the unicode for? Or am I input the \u2080 incorrectly? library(tcltk) m

Is it possible to pass a Tcl/Tk component as argument to a function
hi! All: I wonder if someone has done this before... I am writing several functions that conduct statistical analysis using a GUI interface by Tcl/Tk, they share many identical GUI components. What I am trying to do now is to simplify the code by writing a GUI repository for all the components they use, thus save effort for code maintenance. Since they all use: mainFrame <-

Windows, OSX and Linux: updating a graphic device and double buffering
Hello there, I'm struggling with the base graphics system on different operating systems. I would like to get an animation effect by re-plotting with the plot function. See the attached code example: move the slider quick from one side to the other. I experience different levels of success, depending on which OS I use. - Linux (Ubuntu >9.10, R 2.9.2-3): Each plot command gets

newbie question on tcltk
Hi List, Can anyone tell me how could i put the "BACK" button in the following code, just under the "AAA" menu? I want this button to go back to the previous page, and since it has nothing to do with the "1" and "2" buttons, i want it somehow separated from these two buttons, but i don't know how. I searched the web for some examples but my results

Copy & Paste from tktext on Mac
Hi there, a text Window is supposed to map the shortcuts for copying and pasting (<Ctrl-C>, <Ctrl-V>) automatically. I'm working under Mac OS X and my text window doesn't really map these functions automatically - it works fine under Windows. Is there an easy way to map copy&paste functions to a text window under Mac OS X? This is what I'm doing with my text

gif, jpeg and png image files reader AND tcltk image
Hi all, Roger Peng and Jason Turner's suggestion with ImageMagick seem to be the simplest "dirty" way to get the problem solved. But I ran into yet another interesting but quite round-about way to solve the problem (partially). Through tcltk package, one can read in the gif image with > x <- tkcmd("image", "create", "photo", file=mypic.gif)

embed image in R-tcltk canvas
Hi, I think that R-tcltk doesn't have the capacity to display an image stored in memory on a tkcanvas object, am I right? I have digged around everything I can find from Peter Dalgaard and tcltk references and drew my conclusion. Can you, Peter, or some other gurus on the list, give us a pointer or two on how to proceed to solve this problem? I am afraid that it may involve writing C

possible tcltk event loop problem
Dear list members, Rich Heiberger reported to me last week that the Messages window in the Rcmdr GUI was freezing -- that is, messages posted to this window didn't appear -- under Windows and R 2.8.0. I was able to confirm this problem on three Windows systems, one using Vista and the other two XP. In each case, I used R 2.8.0 and Rcmdr 1.4-4 (the current version). The problem doesn't

stuck tcltk scrollbars under Windows XP
Dear R-devel list members, I've encountered a problem with my Rcmdr package under Windows XP and could use some advice: The Rcmdr package uses the tcltk package to create menus and dialog boxes. My standard procedure when a dialog is created is to grab the focus -- e.g., by tkfocus(top) tkgrab(top) (Here, top is a top-level window -- say, containing one or more scrollbars.)

Difficulties with R.oo (static fields, etc.)
I would like to use R.oo and tcltk to implement a Turtle World. I have encountered many problems because: 1) I am not sure how to implement static fields with R.oo 2) I am not sure how to implement a constructor that would call a function only for the first instance of a class (i.e., to initialize value of static fields only once) 3) I am not sure how to remove/delete cleanly existing

Some R-Tcl/Tk-BWidget newbie questions.
Dear list, Could somebody who is more experienced with the Tcl/Tk interface from R please help me clarify the issues I've put below with ### --> tags? Several things go wrong, and it's probably because of messy code, but I have a difficult time finding out what is the cause. Thanks very much, JeeBee. require(tcltk) || stop("Package tcltk is not available.") # Add path to

tklistbox...
Hi everyone, I have different listboxes in the same toplevel window. The problem is, if I select (by left clicking) one of those listbox elements, the current selection in the other listboxes is cleared! Anybody knows how I can prevent this? Thanks, --------------------------------------------------- Rita Sousa DME - ME: Departamento de Metodologia Estatística - Métodos Estatísticos INE -
