Copyright issues question
Hi to the Devel list, I am at present developping a little Excel add-in that would consist into a translation of John Fox RCommander package. The idea is to have R code that recreates within Excel the menus and some VBA part that handles data input and outputs (those beeing redirected to HTML and imported within Excel in a user-transparent way). Actualy, a first beyta version of this add-in

flac/metaflac 32/64 Universal OS X builds
I've just finished an Xcode 3.1 project file for flac and metaflac that builds both tools as 32/64 bit universal binaries. If anyone is interested in either the binaries or the project, I'll be happy to share them. Stephen

authorship and citation
Dear R developers, This is a rather peculiar question, but nevertheless I would still need an answer for. It is about an R package which I created (namely QCA), and from versions 1.0-0 to 1.1-4 I had a co-author. The co-author recently withdrawn from the package development, but still requires to be left in the authors list and be cited for the package in the CITATION file. Obviously, one could

Licensing and Copyright
Hi all, I fear this discussion will quickly devolve into a recursive flame- fest, but it needs to be broached, so here we go. Note that I kind of think this is more of dev topic than users, but I want to make sure everyone knows the conversation is happening and can easily participate. This is also likely to be the first of a series of conversations I''ll be starting to try to

Verizon Vonage 101
I've dug down as far as I could on www.uspto.gov for anything remotely close to what is going on with Verizon and all searches end with only two possibilities in regards to what is going on. So unless the patent was issued to someone else and Verizon bought it, these are the only two possible patents this case could be based on... US 7,142,646 B2 Voice mail integration with instant

Ambiguity in !tbaa metadata?
I was trying to add some stronger assertions in the verifier around !tbaa metadata when I ran into an ambiguity: I think the encoding of the metadata nodes are such that a given node can be interpreted as either a struct type node or a scalar tbaa node. I'd like a sanity check before I try to fix or work around this. Consider some IR that I got from running clang over a small C++ program:

OT: systemd Poll
According to "Arthur Schopenhauer": "All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident." I must admit that I skipped through the first and second stages - I never found creating init scripts a joy and instead opted to write my own scripts that I launched via inittab. As

authorship and citation
As a fourth option, I wonder if the first author could fork the package? Presumably, appropriately cited, a fork is permitted by the license under which it was released. Then the original package, by both authors, still exists (and a final version could point to the new one) and the new package, citing the previous version appropriately, is by a single author. SSH trademarks and the OpenSSH product name
Friends, Sorry to write this to a developer mailing list. I have already approached some OpenSSH/OpenBSD core members on this, including Markus Friedl, Theo de Raadt, and Niels Provos, but they have chosen not to bring the issue up on the mailing list. I am not aware of any other forum where I would reach the OpenSSH developers, so I will post this here. As you know, I have been using the SSH

Show number at risk on Kaplan Meier curve
Dear all, I'm using the "survival" package with R 2.4.0 on Mac OS X 10.4.8. I have two core statistics books (one of which is Altman's medical stats book) which suggest showing the number of individuals at risk at different time intervals on the Kaplan-Meier curve. My plot shows two curves that later cross, because of one significant outlier. I have two queries: Is there an

R datasets ownership(copyright) and license
Dear R Developers, Recently filed (and dismissed ;) ) law suit by Astrolabe against tz database developers caused a lot of media-press and discussions and created some kind of precedence in the USA [3]. But also it imho showed that similar attacks might happen in the future, and possibly against data sets which are not that obviously "factual" thus after all might fall under copyright
