Newbie: Selecting data
I've been working with R for all of about 8 hours, so anyone with more experience than this should be able to help me. General comments about my methods of work are also welcomed. I have a table that I've imported thusly: > w <- read.table("woodford.data", header=T) > w start therms gas KWHs elect temp days 1 10-Jun-98 9 16.84 613 63.80 75 40 2

Dataset on Baltimore home energy costs
I received a private request for my complete dataset from my previous questions. In gratitude to the developers of R, and especially to the helpful members of r-help, I'm happy to attach it. Anyone is free to use this dataset in any manner they wish, including published books. Attribution is not required, or even desired. Explanatory notes on dataset: This data is collected from monthly

feature request: lzma compresion (7zip)
Hello, many linux SW is starting to implement new lzma compresson instrad of old zlib (gzip) od bzip2. lzma is default comrpession in very good compression SW 7-zip, which is faster and have higher compression ratio then bzip2 or rar. Currently its probalby the best compressor in therms of compression and decompression speed / compression ratio. In linux there is GNU lzma SW which implements

Correlation Matrix with a Covariate
R Help - I'm trying to run a correlation matrix with a covariate of "age" and will at some point will also want to covary other variables concurrently. I'm using the "psych" package and have tried other methods such as writing a loop to extract semi-partial correlations, but it does not seem to be working. How can I accomplish this? library(psych) > set.cor(y =

help with longitudinal data plot
Dear R Help, I am attempting to make a plot of longitudinal data, a sample data frame of which is shown below. I'd like to show all of the subjects in the same plot, with a set of connecting line segments for each subject. 'age' would be the x-axis and 'score' would be the y-axis. subject age score 1 10123 12 51.06 2 10123 14 50.00 3 10123 15 62.22 4

role-based conditionals
in the Rails Recipes book there is a chapter on role-based authentication. it basically set up priviliges based on what page the user was able to access. i went through the chapter and felt like i got a pretty good understanding of how to do it. now i am needing something a little more advanced though. instead of a per page (or action) i would like to have certain sections on a page either

Right way to pass conditionals to partials
Hi All, I have some partials that need to be rendered a bit differently depending on the context. To make matters worse, sometimes these partials are including other partials, that I''d like to control from the main template. These partials are templates that look similar in different contexts, but have different controls depending on where they''re being rendered. I

not conditionals
Hi, I''m new to puppet so apologises if this is obvious and only proves that I haven''t read the manual from cover to cover (oops, did I really to admit that! ;-) In the DebianRecipies example it uses the variable to determine the relative path to some template files. The variable has been set up at the node level however, there''s the possibility that it hasn''t

Bug in conditionals to assign values to variables?
Hi, According to https://wiki2.dovecot.org/Variables you could use conditionals to assign values to a varible. The syntax is: %{if;value1;operator;value2;value-if-true;value-if-false} where any of the fields can refer to another field using %v or %{value} syntax. The problem is that when I use a config like: user_attrs = ...,=relpath=%{if;%u;eq;somevalue;valuetrue;valuefalse} it works

conditionals with String variables
I was wondering how to create an if-then statement that compares two strings. I tried an == : > if (a[i,1] == c[j,1]){ > results[k,1] <- a[i,1] where a, c, and results are [3,3] matrices of string values. If anyone could help me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. If-Else Conditionals in Views
I find myself doing the following quite a lot: <% if user %><%= user.name %><% else %>Anonymous<% end %> I know that if I dont care about an else I can just do: <%= user.name if user %> Is there any simpler way to handle the else? This is a simple example so it''s not really an issue.. but for more complicated tests this gets quite tedious. -- Posted

configure problem in R-devel caused by conditionals
I re-generated configure of the latest R-devel with autoconf 2.57 and got the following problem: configure: error: conditional "HAVE_ORBIT" was never defined. Usually this means the macro was only invoked conditionally. (resolving HAVE_ORBIT leaves us with HAVE_GNORBA causing the same problem. You should be able to reproduce it by running autoreconf (or aclocal; autoconf - not just

[LINUX] netfront: Cleanup and fix TSO/GSO/CHECKSUM conditionals
Hi Keir: [LINUX] netfront: Cleanup and fix TSO/GSO/CHECKSUM conditionals This patch tries to minimise the amount of code that is conditionally compiled. This is desirable (and the Linux way) as it helps to prevent people breaking code unwittingly since conditionals may hide compile problems. It also adds a missing conditional around the TSO ethtool operations. This also helps the building of

Conditionals for Errors or error flags
Greetings, I have been working on a script that conducts repeated statistics and plots to my data. In this case it is sub-setting the dataframe by month. The intent is to develop a custom analysis and plotting that I can run on a large number of data sets. Unfortunately, a small portion of my subsets (~1%) cause an error with one of the wrapped subroutines that results in the whole
