How to custom the tick and type in bwplot
Dear R users
I use bwplot to plot some figures. There are two troubles:
1. How to change the dot of the mean to a line, like the style in boxplot
2. How to hide some tick marks. For example, I have seven tick: A, B, C, D,
E, F, G,
but I want show four marks: A, C, E, G on the x-axis.
Thanks!

bwplot vs boxplot$stats
Hi,
can I find something comparable to boxplots$stats in the resulting trellis
object of a bwplot() call? All I could find was a list named panel.args,
which apears to be identical to the list I get calling xyplot(). This isn't
helping very much since I would still have to compute the median/quantiles
myself to use it for further statistical evaluation (such hierarchical
clustering). All kind

lattice 'scales' option help
Hi All,
I'm trying to draw boxplots. I'm having a hard time to get "ticks labels" on
multiple panels using 'alternating' option.
# R Code:

library(lattice)
data(OrchardSprays)
dta <- subset(OrchardSprays, OrchardSprays$rowpos %in% c(1,2,3))

hello everybody,
I want to print two plots in one png file, I tried several options but i

Any idea?
Thanks a lot

retrieving stats from bwplot
Hi all,
I want to retrieve the stats from a 'bwplot' with one factor. I have read the help for 'panel'
function and I'm aware of the option 'stats' which defaults to 'boxplot.stats' but I didn't
understand it well and therefore I am unable to get what I need.
Thanks in advance.

Adjusting x/y text labels for a bwplot using cex.lab
Searched for this and found some help, but I still can't figure it out.
I have trying to enlarge the x and y labels on my box plot. I understand
that you can do this using "cex.lab", but it does not seem to be working for
me. I must be adding it in the wrong spot. Any help would be greatly
appreciated. Here is my code:

how to make a median line thicker in bwplot (lattice)
Hello,
I am drawing a boxplot using bwplot in lattice.
I would like to learn how to draw a thicker median line instead of the
default setting.
Thank you.

bwplot and outlier symbols
Hi,
I was just trying to figure out how to beautify the output of my
bwplot-output. Altogether I figured most of the things out on my own. The
one thing which puzzles me though are the symbols for the outliers.
I can easily change the form of the median symbol by using "pch" but I
don't know how to do this for outliers. Obviously the "outpch" of the

panel.abline() and trellis.focus() on multipage plots
Hi,
I'm recently working on a multipage bwplot() using the lattice package. In
this context I was trying to use the panel.abline() function individually on
certain panels but not all. After some research I found the trellis.focus()
and trellis.unfocus() functions which enabled me to do something like:
trellis.focus("panel", 1, 3)
do.call("panel.abline", list

2 bwplots - different colors
Hi all,
I would like to draw one picture which would show two different types of
boxplots using the same axes (kind of on top of each other). However, I
would like to plot each boxplot using a different color or different
shading inside the box, so they could be better distinquished from each
other... Could you help me?
Here is an example of the plot I have so far. I was only able to change

bwplot change whiskers position to percentile 5 and P95
Dear R-community,
Using bwplot, how can I put the whiskers at percentile 5 and percentile 95,
in place of the default position coef=1.5??
Using panel=panel.bwstrip, whiskerpos=0.05, from the package agsemisc gives
satisfaction, but changes the appearance of my boxplot and works with an old
version of R, what I don’t want, and I didn’t find the option in
box.umbrella parameters
Many thanks

how to suppress whiskers in a bwplot?
dear R-help,
i have looked carefully through the R-help archives for information on how
to suppress whiskers in a bwplot. someone asked this question a while
ago, but the answer he received is not available in the archives.
but i did manage to get my hands on a panel function (called
"my.panel") that is supposed to do this (the function is reproduced at the
end of the email, below).

bwplot stats question
Hi List,
Just wondering where the documentation exists for the statistics which
makeup the bwplot.
I'm guessing that if R is like similar products that the graph is
constructed as
The median is the filled circle. The box surrounding the filled circle
depicts the 25th and 75th quartile. The range of values is given by the
dotted lines (?whiskers?) outside of each box, and possible

would like to see notches or (even bands).

bwplot colours
Dear All,
is any way I can change the colours of the box and umbrella of a bwplot
without having to go to the length of:
box.rectangle<-trellis.par.get("box.rectangle")
box.rectangle$col<-"black"
trellis.par.set("box.rectangle", box.rectangle)
etc...
but straight from the call:
bwplot(y ~ x | z, mydata) ?

calling bwplot within a for loop
Hi,
I am working with R 1.81. When I call bwplot() it prints the output to the
windows device as it should. For example,
d<-data.frame(y=c(2,3,4,5,12,14,16,11),x=c(rep("group1",4),rep("group2",4)))
bwplot(y~x,data=d)
This code results in a parallel boxplot. That is a single plot with 2
boxplots next to each other; a boxplot for "group1" and a boxplot

color and fontfamily in lattice
Hi,
I am having some problems using bwplot(lattice) in my data. I want change some parameters:
1) Fontfamily to serif
2) The size of the font
3) Put it in a bold face
4) Change de color of the lines
How can I do that?! Now, I am using this to plot my boxplot.
dados <- data.frame(varsep=as.factor(rep(1:2,10)),i=runif(20))
