randomForest Species Distribution Modelling
Hi, I appologise if this is a rudimentary question and long winded but I just wanted to let ye know where I'm comming from. I'm new to R and I'm trying to use the 'randomForest' package to classify and predict. The Error message that is troubling me is: > pr<-predict(predictors,rf1, ext=ext) Error in x[...] <- m : NAs are not allowed in subscripted assignments In

matrix from sequences
Hi all, I have a data frame with sequences of x and y from a map. I would like to know it both ways: 1. How to make a matrix from that; 2. how to make a data frame of all points in a map. Probably it is a silly question, but please tell me where to read about it or tell me how to do it. Miha Staut

Re: clustering polypeptide sequences
Hi Peter, You didn't give a very specific example, but it seems to me that what you wish to do is not really complicated. I suppose you have created a table of sequences vs. say hyprophobicity, charge, etc..., something like... seq hydroph arom b0001 0.104762 0.000000 b0002 0.035122 0.065854 b0003 0.024193 0.070968 b0004 -0.096729 0.084112 b0005 -0.973469 0.091837 b0006

geoR size limit problem
Hi all, I tried to produce some kriged surfaces with geoR (latest version). The size of the grid should be around 900 x 650 cells (what I find is not a very big grid), and the number of points is around 2500. The command krige.conv stopped after arround 5 min saying it can not allocate a vector with around 1.5 billion units. Sounds reasonable. Is there a workaround? How would I partition the

Help: add arrows on a filled.contour figure
Dear All I would like to use filled.contour to plot something with arrows on it. I did it in this way: filled.contour(1:nx,1:nz,u,col=gray(rev((0:20/20)))) for (j in zseq ) for (i in xseq) arrows(i, j, i+u[i,j],j+w[i,j],length=angleng,angle=angarrow,code=2, lwd=1,col="black") The peoblem is that the arrows use the whole device area, including the key on the right hand side of the

Extracting xy from raster based on raster value
I have a raster (which I called glc), which I read into R as a raster with "raster.create.from.file" from the raster package (R-forge). Values in glc range between 1 and 27 (whole numbers only). I'd like to extract all cells with a value of 1 to create a new raster with only the cells that have a value of 1, or to extract the xy values of all raster cells with a value of 1. Could you

str() on raster objects fails for certain dimensions
Hi, str() on raster objects fails for certain dimensions. For example: > str(as.raster(0, nrow=1, ncol=100)) 'raster' chr [1, 1:100] "#000000" "#000000" "#000000" "#000000" ... > str(as.raster(0, nrow=1, ncol=101)) Error in `[.raster`(object, seq_len(max.len)) : subscript out of bounds This seems to do with how str() and

can't vectorize an expression
Dear R support network I have a problem that is driving me crazy. I have a dataframe with about 74000 landscapes which I call "land". A landscape is a 2km -by- 2km square. Land has three columns: land$lat, land$long, and land$description. The last one holds a NON-unique (integer) description of each landscape. There are maybe 100 distinct descriptions. Identifying landscapes that

creating raster image in R
Hi R-User I was trying to make a raster map with WGS84 projection in R, but I could not make it. I found one data set in Google that data is almost the same format as of mine. I wanted to make a raster map of temperature with 1 degree spatial resolution for the global scale. I could make it in the GIS software but I do have many variables (to be many raster images) and ultimately I am

TablEdit runs from install but not after
On Ubuntu 10.10 and Wine 1.2.2. I downloaded and installed the .exe for TablEdit. During installation the last choice the installer gives is to launch the app after install is complete. I do so and the app launches. However, if I close the app and try to launch it from wine or drag the executable into a terminal to run it, it won't start and I get a serious error notification. If I delete the

Problems of exporting raster to ArcGIS
Hello: I am using R raster package to replace ArcGIS when processing multiple shp files. However, when I export R raster back to ArcGIS, it couldn't recognize R raster file correctly. For example, I used {raster} package and got a RasterLayer as followed. class : RasterLayer dimensions : 8280, 18480, 153014400 (nrow, ncol, ncell) resolution : 0.008333334, 0.008333334 (x, y)
