Simulate Mixture Model data
Dear R Users??
I woould like to generate mixture model data.
I try two type method as followings two method, can anyone tell me which is right? or better?
1. generate two vectors data y1 and y2 from f1 and f2 seperately, and calculate y=alpha1*y1+alpha2*y2,
2. generate prob=unif(1), if prob <alpha1 y=y1, else y=y2.
Can anyone give me some idea?
Thanks so much!

hardware issues and new server advice
Hi,
sry if i hijack this, but maybe it's helpful for other gluster users...

Performance: lots of small files, hdd, nvme etc.
Hello there,
as Strahil suggested a separate thread might be better.
current state:
- servers with 10TB hdds
- 2 hdds build up a sw raid1
- each raid1 is a brick
- so 5 bricks per server
- Volume info (complete below):
Volume Name: workdata
Type: Distributed-Replicate
Number of Bricks: 5 x 3 = 15
Bricks:
Brick1: gls1:/gluster/md3/workdata
Brick2: gls2:/gluster/md3/workdata
Brick3:

Actually,
pure NVME-based volume will be waste of money. Gluster excells when you have more servers and clients to consume that data.
I would choose? LVM cache (NVMEs) + HW RAID10 of SAS 15K disks to cope with the load. At least if you decide to go with more disks for the raids, use several? (not the built-in ones) controllers.
@Martin,
in order to get a more reliable setup, you will have to

Creating Better Table in R
Could anyone please direct me on how to make a nicer table in R? THANKS FOR
ALL THE HELP!
I would like to make a table with the following in it: estimate, t value,
significance, beta, standard errors, adjusted r squared, and residual
standard error (3 decimal points if possible, but I can do it by hand). Also
I'd love to include the source of my information on the bottom of the table

GAMM and anove.lme question
Greetings all
The help file for GAMM in mgcv indicates that the log likelihood for a
GAMM reported using
summary(my.gamm$lme) (as an example) is not correct.
However, in a past R-help post (included below), there is some indication
that the likelihood ratio test in anova.lme(mygamm$lme, mygamm1$lme) is
valid.
How can I tell if anova.lme results are meaningful (are AIC, BIC, and
logLik

Initial values of the parameters of a garch-Model
Dear all,
I'm using R 2.8.1 under Windows Vista on a dual core 2,4 GhZ with 4 GB
of RAM.
I'm trying to reproduce a result out of "Analysis of Financial Time
Series" by Ruey Tsay.
In R I'm using the fGarch library.
After fitting a ar(3)-garch(1,1)-model
> model<-garchFit(~arma(3,0)+garch(1,1), analyse)
I'm saving the results via

I tryed out spandsp with libtiff-3.5.7 and with Asterisk from CVS.
I tryed to receive a fax on a CAPI channel. Finally I got a file with

How can I do next?
Thanks in advance,
Thomas
ps: what are hardware requirements for sending/receiving faxes?
