dict package: dictionary data structure for R
Hi all, The dict package provides a dictionary (hashtable) data structure much like R's built-in environment objects, but with the following differences: - The Dict class can be subclassed. - Four different hashing functions are implemented and the user can specify which to use when creating an instance. I'm sending this here as opposed to R-packages because this package will

Sharing a Hashtable between all sessions?
Is it possible with RoR? In my case this shared Hashtable is a language translation table for several hundred terms, and does not need to be updated. I would like it to be shared in order to avoid loading it once for each session. Thanks, Marcus O. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Shared mailboxes setups and dictionaries
Hello, I am relatively new to the world of MTAs and MDAs, and I try to set up shared mailboxes. So far I have somehow succeeded - I have defined a shared namespace and I have managed to create per-mailbox ACL files thanks to the doveadm command. However, I have been following these resources and there were bits that have puzzled me: When learning about how ACL work in e.g.

SPSS dictionary information data bases
Hi, Does anybody know how to obtain the same information as the SPSS command "DISPLAY DICTIONARY". I know the read.spss function in the package foreign, but it doesn't give either the missing values defined by the user under SPSS or the format variables (for example if they are dates or not). Thanks in advance. Isaac Subirana (isubirana@imim.es) [[alternative HTML

Multiset Permutations
Dear R users, I want to perform an exact permutation of multisets. I have looked at the coin package, but it doesn't seem to offer what I am looking for. I want to perform permutations (exact - without duplications) on multisets of scalars (e.g., the multiset 0,0,1,2,2). I want to output all the possible permutations into a data frame so that each multiset permutation occupies a row (or

Configuring Shared Mailbox Dictionaries
Hello, list! I am in the midst of configuring a new Dovecot IMAP server, and I'm preparing to setup shard mailboxes as part of the ocnfiguration. In order to get these setup the way I want, I've figured out that I'm going to have to setup an acl_shared_dict. This is where things start to get confusing for me, as I have had difficulty finding thorough explanations of dictionary

Java Problems
Hi. This post follows on from: http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-devel/2005-04/msg00185.html And is possibly related to the bug referenced here: http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do;:YfiG?bug_id=4335360 In summary: Java processes are doing odd things. 1) It appears that number values are mysteriously changing. e.g. if you look at the Hashtable error there is no way the

Associative array?
Hi, can someone tell me how to use associative arrays in R? It can be a hashtable or some kind of tree, as long as the lookups aren't O(n). One way to do this is to use names, e.g. in: list(a=3, ...)[["a"]] presumably looking up "a" is very quick. (Can someone tell me offhand how that is implemented? Hashtable?) However, if I wanted to, say, memoize a numeric

How to maintain memory in R extension
Hello, I wrote a system to perform data analysis in C++. Now I am integrating it to R. I need to allocate memory for my own C++ data structures, which can't be represented by any R data structures. I create a global hashtable to keep a reference to the C++ data structures. Whenever I allocate one, I register it in the hashtable and return its key to the R code. So later on, the R code can

Dynamic Dictionary Data Type?
Hello! I have an algorithm which performs lengthy operations and I would like to cache results. Other languages usually offer a dictionary data type which I can use as an efficient way to dynamically cache already calculated results - what's the best way to do this in R? Best wishes, Sven C. Koehler
