prevalence in logistic regression lrm()
Hi, I am wondering if there is a way to specify the prevalence of events in logistic regression using lrm() from Design package? Linear Discriminant Analysis using lda() from MASS library has an argument "prior=" that we can use to specify the prevalent of events when the actual dataset being analyzed does not have a representative prevalence. How can we incorporate this information in

Cox regression for prevalence estimates
Hello, I'm an MD working in an eye clinic. I'm learning by myself to use R
for use in my research works and for implementation in a software project.
There are some authors who recomends the use of Cox regression as a
substitute for Logistic regression (<a

extract data features from subsets
I have a large dataset similar to this:
ID time result
A 1 5
A 2 2
A 3 1
A 4 1
A 5 1
A 6 2
A 7 3
A 8 4
B 1 3
B 2 2
B 3 4
B 4 6
B 5 8
I need to extract a number of features for each individual in it (identified by "ID"). These are:
* The lowest result (the nadir)
* The time of the nadir - but if the nadir level is present at >1 time point, I need the minimum and maximum time of nadir

Looking for a test of standard normality
Dear list members,
I am looking for a goodness of test that will tell me if a sample is
likely to have come from a standard normal distribution. I can find
plenty of omnibus tests for normality in the nor.test package, but none
of them appear to allow me to test against the specific alternative that
the data are not standard normal. My back up option is to use a
Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, but my

Bayesian estimate of prevalence with an imperfect test
Hi all!
I'm new to this forum so please excuse me if I don't conform perfectly to
the protocols on this board!
I'm trying to get an estimate of true prevalence based upon results from an
imperfect test. I have various estimates of se/sp which could inform my
priors (at least upper and lower limits even if with a uniform distribution)
and found the following code on this website..

ggplot question
I am trying to do something simple with ggplot. I wish to draw a density
plot split by group, and fill each group with a different colour (and
each with an alpha =0.25). I have tried a number of variations of the
following, but cannot find a way to define the colour of the fill, its
transparency and the line around it individually - something in the
syntax continues to defy me.

data recoding problem
Hi R experts,
I have a data recoding problem I cant get my head around - I am not that
great at the subsetting syntax. I have a dataset of longitudinal
toxicity data (for multistate modelling) for which I want to also want
to do a simple Kaplan-Meier curve of the time to first toxic event.
The data for 2 cases presently looks like this (one with an event, the
other without), with id representing

how to fill between 2 stair plots
Hi all,
I want to create a simple plot with 2 type='s' lines on it:
plot(a, b, type='s')
lines(x, y, type='s')
I wish to then fill the area between the curves with a colour to
accentuate the differences eg col=gray(0.95). I cant seem to come up
with a simple method for this. Any pointers in the right direction much
appreciated.
Cheers

bootcov and cph error
Hi all,
I am trying to get bootstrap resampled estimates of covariates in a Cox
model using cph (Design library).
Using the following I get the error:

data=data2.abr, x=T, y=T)

Casualty Actuarial Society request for proposals for R Workshop
I'm a property-casualty actuary, use R in at my job, and lurk on the
list. In conjunction with one of its meetings, the Casualty Actuarial
Society (I'm a member) is looking for proposals from people to teach a
workshop in R and I thought members of the list might be interested.
I've pasted the information below.
My apologies if this posting violates list rules.
Thanks.

NTLM authentication with dovecot.
Hi!,
I'm trying to use single sign on from Windows.
Install dovecot on CentOS 6. The host name is prueba-mail.
I'm using version 2.0.9 because the latest 64-bit gives errors.
But first I wanted to test whether user validation works with telnet.
When I try to try "telnet prueba-mail imap" and try to "a1 LOGIN MyUsername
MyPassword", I get the following error:prueba-mail

Data
Hi all,
Imagine I have a matrix and the first colum is a list that repeats the same
names, I want to sum the second column on each unique name on first column.
Imagine this:
Pepe 2
Pepe 3
Pepe 4
Jose 2
Jose 5
Manuel 4
Manuel 2
I want to make a new matrix that calculates and recognizes that there are 3
different names ans sum second column. But a priori I don´t know the list of
the different

Is there any design based two proportions z test?
Hello Everyone,
I was analysing big survey data using survey packages on RStudio. Survey
package allows survey data analysis with the design effect. The survey
package included functions for all other statistical analysis except
two-proportion z tests.
I was trying to calculate the difference in prevalence of Diabetes and
Prediabetes between the year 2011 and 2017 (with 95%CI). I was able to

SAMBA & ISAM Databases

that is being accessed by applications running on the Win clients and by
applications running in Linux.
I have disabled "opplocks" in both Win9x clients and on the Samba share.

Is there any design based two proportions z test?
Dear Md Kamruzzaman,
To answer your second question first, you could just use the svychisq()
function. The difference-of-proportion test is equivalent to a chisquare
test for the 2-by-2 table.
You don't say how you computed the confidence intervals for the two
separate proportions, but if you have their standard errors (and if not,
you should be able to infer them from the confidence

Is there any design based two proportions z test?
Dear Md Kamruzzaman,
I've copied this response to the r-help list, where you originally asked
your question. That way, other people can follow the conversation, if
they're interested and there will be a record of the solution. Please
keep r-help in the loop

Two Easy questions
Sorry all for these two easy questions:
First, I have a matrix with trhee columns:

Pepe 1,85 10
Paco 1,7 7
Pablo 1,82 6
I want to scatter the two columns (I could use pairs or other functions...)
but the only doubt is that I cannot find the way to add in the associated
intersection (the point scattered) the label "Pepe" "Paco" and so
