Multinomial Nested Logit package in R?
Dear R-Help, I'm hoping to find a Multinomial Nested Logit package in R. It would be great to find something analogous to "PROC MDC" in SAS: > The MDC (Multinomial Discrete Choice) procedure analyzes models > where the > choice set consists of multiple alternatives. This procedure > supports conditional logit, > mixed logit, heteroscedastic extreme value,

You won't get mundane things like ordered probit off the shelf. (I will be very happy if someone will show

R book for economists
Dear Group, I am an economics student starting with PhD work in London. As preparation I would like to get to know R a little bit better. For Stata there are tons of books, however, can you recommend a book for R? I have some substantiated econometrics knowledge, so it should be more a how-to book. Modified Sims test
Does anyone know of a package that includes the Modified Sims test [Gewerke, 1983, Sims, 1972]? This test is used in econometrics and is a kind of alternative to the Granger test [Granger, 1969], which is in the package lmtest. Thanks in advance, chris Refernces: Gewerke, J., R. Meese, and W. car::Anova - Can it be used for ANCOVA with repeated-measures factors.
Dear list, I would like to run an ANCOVA using car::Anova with repeated measures factors, but I can't figure out how to do it. My (between-subjects) covariate always interacts with my within-subject factors. As far as I understand ANCOVA, covariates usually do not interact with the effects of interest but are simply additive (or am I wrong here?). More specifically, I can add a covariate as

Now the first version of a package called ctv (for CRAN Task Views) is available from CRAN and also two frist drafts for such views can be seen at

heckit / tobit estimation
Dear All, we (Ott Toomet and I) would like to add functions for maximum likelihood (ML) estimations of generalized tobit models of type 2 and type 5 (*see below) in my R package for microeconomic analysis "micEcon". So far we have called these functions "tobit2( )" and "tobit5( )". Are these classifications well known? How are these functions called in other

Dear R Users, Could you please help me on the following issue? I have a real large yearly data set. For each year I have 365 flow values. Some of the flow values are not known and that’s why you will see NA written in those slots. I wanted to know, is there a way that I can estimate those values? I tried approx command but it seems least helpful for the kind of issue I am up against.

Since I had too much junk cluttering my computer, I recently re-set it back to factory settings, in the process eliminating R. I now have to reload R and packages, and would like to do that via the install.views command. I have successfully downloaded the package "ctv" but R does not recognize install.views. What am I doing wrong? I am using R 2.4.0. Pierre D'Ange. "To
