Exporting of R dendrogram object in the format of Eisen´s Cluster
Dear R-users, I would like to use Cluster 3.0 for my data because of its zooming, link out and copy (gene)labels into clipboard options. Unfortunately the program doesnt allow use of the distance metrics I would like to use. I would like to ask if there is some library, that allows saving dendrogram object in the format readable by Cluster. Thank you for reply. --

sys.time question - how to improve R performance
Dear R-users, I run my program a difference between sys.times is as follows: user system elapsed 60167.53 2848.75 63278.93 I am quite puzzled how it may happen that system time is so much shorter than user time, I have 2 core computer most of the time (90%) I was not doing anything else with the computer. What could be the reason of such a difference? I switched off file indexing and all

glm and overdispersion
Hi, I am performing glm with binomial family and my data show slight overdispersion (HF<1.5). Nevertheless, in order to take into account for this heterogeneity though weak, I use F-test rather than Chi-square (Krackow & Tkadlec, 2001). But surprisingly, outputs of this two tests are exactly similar. What is the reason and how can I scale the output by overdispersion ?? Thank you,

Constructin a call of function including permutation of column names - how to escape parentheses?
Dear R-users, I would like to construct a list of arguments for a function in a format function (list(item1=c("A","B"), item2=c("B","C")), item3=...): The individual vectors in the list are permutations of colnames of a dataframe. The trouble is that I am not able to handle escaping of parentheses correctly. I was trying the following: library(gregmisc)

features of save and save.image (unexpected file sizes)
Hi, Today I came upon unexpected R behaviour. I did some modelling and the result was R object, about 28MB size (nested list, with matrixes as list elements). When I was saving the session with save.image, the resulting .RData file was 300MB. There were no other large objects: >

Saving a plot in R-LINUX
Good day, Is there any way to save a plot produced by R in a LINUX (Debian) machine? The window opened by R to put the plot in, does not give any option to save it (there are options to move, close, minimise it, etc. but not to save it). How do you do that? Crash on opening mailbox
Hi! I'm currently experiencing a crash of dovecot 2.2.25 on Gentoo, upon opening mailbox. The crash only triggers on opening inbox, other mailboxes seem to work fine. It happens every time, and can be reproduced on request. I also briefly tried 2.2.19, and it behaves the same. The bug seems to be triggered by some mail, as I encountered it previously and fixed by removing some spam. I

optim error
Dear all, There have been one or two questions posted to the list regarding the optim error "non-finite finite-difference value [4]." The error apparently means that the 4th element of the gradient is non-finite. My question is what part(s) of my program should I fiddle with in an attempt to fix it? Starting values? Something in the log-likelihood itself? Perhaps the data

Ok, what about enabling the 3dnow function in libFLAC by default? I think time has shown the function is bugfree... :) -- Miroslav Lichvar

xmms-plugin problems
Hi, i'm using xmms-plugin from flac-0.9, i found following problems. Back-seeking cause, that .flac is not played all. It's caused by StreamDecoderPrivate variable samples_decoded and function stream_decoder_frame_sync_, which compare it against whole length of stream. I don't know what is meaning of this varible (samples decoded from last reset or for whole life of decoder). So i

Filenames with Windows-1250 chars
Hi everyone, Please, can you guide me on what shall I do to be able to create and access files with filenames containing Windows-1250 (Central European) characters from Windows 98? It works with default Samba settings from NT but not from 98. I tried different combinations of almost everything and got all kind of confusing results - for example, I was able to create a file containing the

Ok, here is simple patch, it works for me, but I'm not familiar with this stuff. BTW, metaflac --list prints comments in raw utf8, it can screw terminal easily. -- Miroslav Lichvar

My decoder now works correctly for files encoded with the default settings. Are

getting framesize in client
I have few notes: It seems there is changed API in CVS again. So, what about adding function like unsigned FLAC__format_frame_size(const FLAC__Frame *frame) which returns size of the frame in bytes. This can be useful, for example, in xmms plugin to display current bitrate like vorbis plugin does. If 'PERFORMER' field is missing in vorbis comment, it would be nice to display
