boxplot with average instead of median
I really like the ease of use with the boxplot command in R. I would
rather have a boxplot that shows the average value and the standard
deviation then the median value and the quartiles.
Is there a way to do this?

RNG Cycle and Duplication
Hello all,
I am generating large samples of random numbers. The RNG help page says:
"All the supplied uniform generators return 32-bit integer values that are
converted to doubles, so they take at most 2^32 distinct values and long
runs will return duplicated values." But I find that the cycles are not
the same as the 32-bit integer.
My test indicated that the cycles for

Rmpi and PBS
Hello:
Anybody knows how to run Rmpi through PBS (Portable Batch System) on a
cluster computer. I'm using a supercomputer which require to submit jobs
to PBS queue for dispatching. I tried use mpirun in my PBS script. But all
my Rslaves are spawned to the same node. This is not desired.
Any suggestions are welcome!
Thanks in advance.

persp plot
I have a set of data in the form
x1, y1, z1
x1, y2, z2
...
x1, yN, zN
x2, y1, z(N+1)
x2, y2, z(N+2)
...
x2, yN, z(2N)
...and so on...
xM, yN, val(M*N)
I have been trying to figure out how to get R to use this data in a
persp plot. So far the only thing that I can figure out to do is to
break the data file into three different files. The first file
contains the x-coordinate data:
x1
x2

Re: Fwd: Win32 services management?
Hi,
I am interested in implementing the 'createservice()' functionality
using the RPC protocol. I need this functionality badly, and I
understand it is not implemented.
I understand vaguely how this should be working and found some
documentation,

Using --link-dest works on small directory tree but not large one
I'm using version 2.6.3 on OS X. I'm trying to use --link-dest to keep some
rolling backups of production websites. There is about 2GB of data in 60,000
total files. I do an initial rsync to get an initial copy of the data, and
each day thereafter I run rsync again with --link-dest to create a new daily
backup. For some reason, in the subsequent runs, rsync updates a whole lot
of files

code for functions in base package
Is there any way that I can see the step by step code for functions in
the base package? For instance the dexp function. I am a student
working on writing my own function for something that is similar to
this dexp function and I would like to see the step by step code.

AutoCAD R14 and Eagle Point
Samba List:
Is anyone out there using AutoCAD R14 and Eagle Point? One of my clients
received the latest version of Eagle Point, and the time to load files has
become horrible. It has increased from 1 min to 15 min!
All files are on the Linux server and the stations we did the initial tests
with are PIII w/128MB RAM. The AutoCAD file loads quick, but once the
Eagle Point files begin to load

Getting ordered factor levels from C

When I get the "levels" attribute in C, I get back the the first

2.2.3a PDC Win2K Citrix Profiles
This weekend I upgraded SAMBA from 2.2.2 to 2.2.3a then made it the PDC on
our LAN. Original PDC was an NT4 Server. There is a Win2K Server running
Citrix Metaframe-XP, and the old NT4 PDC Server was replaced with another
Win2K
Server to be the Database Server. I didn't want to bother with setting Win2K
up as a DNS and DFS/ADS Server (required for being a PDC), so selected to
make SAMBA the

Hi Rowland,
Thanks for the help and ideally I would like to get rid of the sub domain

So couple comments and please forgive any of my ignorance.
For your second question, all users in the subdomain who have access to the
SAMBA server do have uidNumber set and it matches the uidNumber set in

add sessionInfo() option to "save"
Hi All,
I was wondering if there would be any interest in adding an option to the
"save" function in R that I think would be useful. I was thinking that it
might be useful to have an option that would generate a ".sessionInfo"
variable that contains the output of "sessionInfo()", and adds it to the
list of objects to be saved. This way, whenever an RData object is
