Rails resources, blogs, forums, etc?
Hi everyone,
Already in the span of a week or so I''ve learned exponentially from
your collective minds. So, first off, thanks for being such a good
community.
In addition to everything here i''m wondering what the top RoR-related
blogs are - abundant with content and frequently updated. Are there
any that would be consensus among rails enthusiasts? The same with

ActiveRecord::RecordNotFound
Is there a specific reason why AR doesn''t raise a RecordNotFound
exception in any exception other than "find(id)"? It would seem
to be more consistent with the unified find if all types of
find would raise a RecordNotFound exception.

procrustes results affected by order of sites in input file
Dear All,
I am using a Procrustes analysis to compare two NMDS ordinations for the
same set of sites. One ordination is based on fish data, the other is based
on invertebrate data. Ordinations were derived using metaMDS() from the
{vegan} library as follows:
fish.mds<-metaMDS(fish.data, distance="bray", k=3, trymax=100,
wascores=TRUE, trace=TRUE, zero="add")

Planet CentOS
Hey,
It's probably better to remove my RSS feed from Planet CentOS because I
will still write about CentOS (and tag those articles centos) but not as a
team member.
And if it is linked on Planet CentOS people may still think I am
communicating as a CentOS team member, which I prefer to avoid.

Fixing output_compression for Rails 1.1
With Rails 1.1 the output_compression[1] plugin was broken.
Once I upgraded to 1.1, I had to tweak it a bit to make it work.
Mainly it''s removing the code dealing with component requests, as
that''s part of rails now, and changing one function call.
Get the modified output_compression.rb file from
http://devblog.famundo.com/output_compression.rb and give it a try.

Complaining on the CentOS list is probably not that productive, though.

Who''s using --format rdoc
I''m doing some housekeeping and just realised that the rdoc formatter
produces gibberish:
http://rspec.rubyforge.org/rdoc/files/EXAMPLES_rd.html
Will anyone protest if I just go ahead and remove it? (I can''t imagine
anyone using it, especially with the much better HTML formatter)

Planet VIP-320 DECT gateway with Asterisk?
Hello,
I just received what seems to be a nice SIP<->DECT gateway but can't
make it work with asterisk. The manual is very unclear (written in
"chinese" english) and the web configurator is ambiguous as well.
Has anyone succeeded in making one of these babies work with * ?

"Planet Xiph" feed collector website?
Hello!
I stumbled upon the blog of Xiph member Arek Korbik [1]
a few minutes ago and the "planet idea" came to my mind
again. What I mean is a website collection posts from
a number of blogs as Planet KDE [2] is doing for example.
Is there such a thing for Xiph? Is there interest
in having such a thing? If so would there be a chance
to cover the domain costs from past/future

trouble getting output from graphs, again
It seems like every time I try to do something a little different, I
cannot get output saved just right.
This is on RedHat 7.2 with R 1.4.1.
The png output looks fine, but the eps output has the problem that the
bounding box on the legend cuts the legend in half. I put a copy of a
bad one here:

r-project.org address blacklisted by anti-spam software
Dear List:
An e-mail mentioning the r-project.org address and sent to a friend at a German
university was considered spam by the local spam filter.
Its reasoning: the URL "r-project.org" is blacklisted at uribl.swinog.ch resp.
at antispam.imp.ch. I checked the list
    http://antispam.imp.ch/swinog-uri-rbl.txt  [caution: long list]
and indeed, there it was. Can anybody explain how or

Re creating Procrustes Plot in Lattice
Hi, I have been trying to create a function to generate a Procrustes plot,
generated from package "vegan"
in lattice.
standard vegan code as follows
library(vegan)
pro=protest(P1, P8, permutations=4999,choices=1:4)
plot(pro)
Now, here is the code for the function that I have failed to get to work
properly.
panel.procrustes=function(x,y)
}Pro=protest(x,y,permutations=4999,choices=1:4)

looping over factors
How does one loop over factors? Perhaps this is a newbie question.
I tried:

+   print (b == i) ;

Macromedia Flash Loading Issues
I''ve discovered something very odd about the way Rails is handling
Flash media. I am attempting to load a partial that contains the code
for a flash adverstisment for the website. It was working ok when the
code was in the page, but once I pulled it out to a partial (so I
could use it on other pages) it stopped working.
<%= render(:partial =>
