Installing packages with R v.2.3.1 on MAC OS X -- Error: "Cannot chdir: No such file or directory"
Dear all,
I'm working on MAC OS X 10.4.7 using R version 2.3.1 (June 2006)
and platform powerpc-apple-darwin8.6.0. Since I installed the new
version of R I cannot install packages any more (but it worked fine
before) and get the following message every time. I can, however,
install packages from the command line if I get them as precompiled
binaries.

dealing with package bundles (was RE: Gregmisc)
Given the confusions that some users have regarding package bundles, I'd
like to suggest some changes to how package bundles are handled.
My understanding is that a package bundle is essentially a convenient way to
distribute related packages, so that users can download/install them in one
shot. However, some users apparently get confused that one can do
install.packages("abundle")

Gregmisc
Dear all,
I use R 2.0.1 on Windows XP professional. When I want to load the
'Gregmisc' library I get the following error message:
Error in library(pkg, character.only = TRUE) : 'gregmisc' is not a
valid package -- installed < 2.0.0?
Can anybody tell me what's wrong with this package?
Cheers, Christian

Segmentation fault in estimating structural equation models with the SEM package.
Dear R-users,
I am running a large number of simulations and estimating a
structural equation model for each one using the SEM package. Each
run of my program has around 8000 simulations. Most of the time the
program completes all of them correctly but sometimes I get a
segmentation fault in the sem routine and my program stops with the
following error message:

R-2.0.0 Install problem for package bundle with inter-dependent n amespaces
I have a revised version of the gregmisc package, which I've converted into
a package bundle each of which has a namespace: gplots, gmodels, gdata,
gtoools. Of course, there are interdependencies among these namespaces:
gsun374: /tmp [11]> cd gregmisc/
gsun374: gregmisc [12]> grep import */NAMESPACE
gdata/NAMESPACE:importFrom(gtools, odd, invalid, mixedsort)

Correct effect plots from lme() objects
Hello all!
R2.0.1, W2k
I posted this question to the list last Sunday without getting any
replies on the list. I got two off the list though, suggesting me to
plot "manually" as a second step, from estimable() or intervals()
objects respectively. As this was not really what I wished for, I take
the risk to upset somebody with a trivial question, and re-post it (just

Package Installation on networked disk (was: Package Installation in RGui (PR#7262))
Hi again!
I would just like to add that this surely must be a problem with network
disks. As I reported yesterady in,
https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-devel/2005-March/032431.html
I have problems with installing packages on network drive (where I have R
installed), marked N:
> install.packages("gap")

Packages reappear for installation each time update.packages() is run
Hi,
Whenever I run update.packages() certain packages reappear over and over
again as packages to be updated. Specifically, the problems appear with
the packages gregmisc and gap:

Version 2.0.8 available at http://cran.dk.r-project.org

3.0.1 update and compiler package
Hi,
I recently updated to R 3.0.1. I'm running linux ubuntu 12.04. I
realized that I have to update all the installed packages so I run >
update.packages(checkBuilt=TRUE)
as described here
http://www.r-bloggers.com/r-3-0-0-is-released-whats-new-and-how-to-upgrade/
. The first thing it did was telling me that it will not update several
packages. When it was finished I used the warnings

developing package: dealing with namespaces
I am tweaking an R package for which I have the source; the relevant code
is in R not C. I'm making changes to the package code.
What is the best workflow for doing this? I recall the advice used to be
to remove the NAMESPACE during development, but I don't think this is
possible anymore.
For simplicity, suppose I have an outer level function f defined in f.R
and an innder g in g.R
