Creating a web service with AWS
So I''ve read the Action Web Service bit of the documentation for a while, searched around and asked on the IRQ channel and I just can''t seem to get a simple Hello World type web service up and running with AWS on Rails. I have a file called hello_person_api.rb which looks like this: class HelloPersonAPI < ActionWebService::API::Base api_method :HelloName, :expects

Sorry for all the newbie questions, but I''m also getting this after I generate a new scaffold for an object and click on "New" on the list page: Routing Error No route for path: "new" Failure reasons: <ActionController::Routing::Route ":controller/service.wsdl" when {:action=>"wsdl"}> failed because no controller found at

Routing error follow-up
So, maybe I''m asking a stupid question, but if someone could point me in the right direction, I''d be eternally grateful. First, here''s what I have installed: $ ruby -v ruby 1.8.2 (2004-08-24) [i386-linux] $ gem list *** LOCAL GEMS *** actionmailer (0.7.1) Service layer for easy email delivery and testing. actionpack (1.5.1) Web-flow and rendering framework

Patronizing the exclude * option
I need to get around the requirement of --exclude=* to have all the parent directories of the files and directories that are to be included. So given the file.. /startdirectory/subdirectory1/subdirectory2/filetobecopied I need to include / /subdirectory1 /subdirectory1/subdirectory2 I could just include the entire directory structure , but alternatively just include the needed paths. So the

SSOAP: arguments passed as
Hi, I have a SOAP service, provided by BioMoby which I'd like to call via SSOAP. My service breaks during genSOAPClientInterface() genSOAPClientInterface(def=service, verbose = TRUE) Operation MassBank_Simple_2 Error: Cannot resolve SOAP type in empty context Problem seems to be that there are no <types> defined in the WSDL, and that the service passes input/output as a single

shadow_copy for homes share
I have successfully setup shadow_copy for normal shares on our samba test server. However, I cannot get it working for the homes share because of its uniqueness. Here is the homes share: [homes] comment = Home Directories read only = No create mask = 0700 directory mask = 0700 browseable = no fstype = XFS 1.2 vfs object = shadow_copy

Routing problems - Apache proxy vs. Webrick direct
I dropped the use of fastcgi because I could not get popen working (see ''[Rails] Apache2 and popen''). It works under WebBrick. Since CGI is too slow, I thought I''d proxy to WebBrick via Apache. I am having routing problems now with escaped slashes in the URL. Here''s my routes.rb: map.connect '''', :controller => "wiki"

SSOAP failing
Dear list, I am trying to use the SSOAP package to access a very simple SOAP service, included as a demonstrator in the axis2 Apache package: "Version" (takes no input parameters and should return a string with the version number). The web service itself seems to be working as I could access it using an other client (eclipse Web Server tester). You will find the service wsdl here:

ActionWebService and namespaces
Hi all, I''ve tried to search the mailing list, web, etc. and haven''t found anything that seems to answer my question. I have a WSDL for a web service written in Java, and I''m trying to consume it in ruby using ActionWebService. I''ve created my API and some struct classes. I''ve found the :namespace option to ActionWebService::Client::Soap.new, but

SSOAP fails with .types[[1]] : subscript out of bounds
Hi, I am trying to create a BioMoby client in R using SSOAP. BioMoby is a normal SOAP web service, with request and response messages wrapped in BioMoby XML dialect. Since the particular WSDL I am having problems with is autogenerated and used similarly by *many* services, it would be quite important to a) fix SSOAP or b) fix the WSDL generator. I am a bit lost how to continue debugging

help with SSOAP (can't find working examples)
First of all, let me confess that I am a newbie to R and don't know much about the language or the environment. We have a need for plugging in R in our production runtime and need the ability to pull data out of our existing services. I am trying to see if I can take advantage of SSOAP such that we can expose the data via webservices and use SSOAP to call into them. Our runtime is mostly

Web service SOAP URLs started failing with 1.1.4 or using 1.1.2 security patch
Railers, I''m trying to figure out why invocations to my Web service URLs work with Rails 1.1.2 but fail both with Rails 1.1.4 (and 1.1.5) and when I apply the new 1.1.2 security patch to Rails 1.1.2. It looks like they are failing with SOAP clients but succeeding with XML-RPC clients. The URL that used to work is of the form http://localhost:3000/my_controller/ServiceName/api. When I

ActionWebService and WSDL
The suggested approach for developing a web service using ActionWebService appears to be start by defining the API you want and then you can generate WSDL. I want to start from WSDL. I''ve tried wsdl2ruby but the Ruby code it generates does not appear to play well with Rails. Is there a way I can get what I want? I''m new at this so if the answer is a forehead slapper,

Rails as SOAP client with .NET web service
Hi For an application we need to obtain data from a .NET based web service. I''ve been "playing" with some sample code to invoke web services as a soap client. They work ok with services that offer a .wsdl link. However, .NET based services are called with "*.asmx?WSDL". The wsdlDriver (I guess SOAP4R) barfs on this. Anybody have practical experience and willing/able
