capturing a figure to PDF or Image
Hello,
I've been using jpeg(), bmp() and pdf() to capture plots.
I've used the parameter "at" in a plot, to define the tickmarks.
It works fine on screen, but when I try to print it to a file, it gives a
warning:
"at" is not a graphical parameter
and prints an empty figure. Can you help?
Thanks,
Eran.

completing missing samples
Hello,
I have a time-series that has some missing samples.
I was thinking on completing them using either zero-order hold or linear
interpolation.
I am looking for an efiicient way (other than a loop...) of identifiying the
missing time slots and filling them.
Can you think of any methods that might help here? (obviously
which(diff(time)>min(diff(time))) will give the locations, but what

R-Studio Question
Hello,
I've switched to R studio from the StatET Eclipse plug-in.
I have a question regarding navigating between plots.
When I use x11() or windows() new devices are created and I know how to
switch back and forth between them.
However, when I plot on the device that stands for R-Studio's built-in plot
browser, is there a way to switch back between plots? Each new "plot"

debugging functions in R
Hi,
I am not sure if this is the right list to ask this question (though I did
not find a more appropriate one).
I've started using R a month ago, and small scripts work fine. However, when
I start writing more complex code, it gets messy.
1. Is there any way to debug "normally", with breakpoints?
2. I am using the Eclipse plugin (StatET), and tried JGR(). Is there an IDE

How to navigate (zoom, pan) in a plot/graph
Hello all,
I need to zoom in and out and "travel"(pan) inside a plot, like you can do
on a Matlab plot.
If possible, I would also like the option to use the mouse to set a marker
on the graph and get the (x,y) data for it, again, like in Matlab.
Is this possible in R with the regular packages, or do you maybe know a
different package that will allow this?
Eran.

Passing a large amount of parameters to a function
Hello,
I have a function with a long list of parameters (of different types,
numeric and string)
myFunc <-function(p1, p2, p3, p4, p5...etc)
{
do.something(p1,p2,....)
}
I want to loop over this to provide a different set of parameters to the
list every time.
for (ii in 1:N)
{
myFunc(p1(ii), p2(ii),....etc)
}
I would like to simplify the notation and use some kind of structure, maybe

using a dictionary in R
Hi all,
Is there a way to create a "dictionary" in R, such that it has <key,value>
pairs?
Something to the effect of:
x=dictionary(c("Hi","Why","water") , c(1,5,4))
x["Why"]=5
In truth I'm looking two categorial variables function.
So that if x=dictionary(c("a","b"),c(5,2))

Fishy error with NAMESPACE when checking package
I am updating the Epi package.
I added functions named pc.points and pc.matpoints.
Erroneously I wrote pc.plot and pc.matplot in the NAMESPACE file and of course got an error from Rcmd check.
So I corrected the NAMESPACE file, but I still get from r-check:

GNU tar does not ignore files in .Rbuildignore (PR#1339)
Full_Name: David O. Nelson
Version: 1.4.1
OS: solaris 2.7
Submission from: (NULL) (128.115.150.74)
Putting patterns in .Rbuildignore has no effect when the tar being used is gnu
tar (1.13) on solaris 2.7, whilst /usr/sbin/tar works perfectly.

problem building a package with C code (PR#13572)
Hi, my name is Paula. Im trying to learn how to build an R package in
Windows XP using a simple example which includes a C source code. The
foo.c file is located in mypkg/src/foo.c.
I used the command Rcmd build --force --binary [pkgpath]. The problem is
when I install the zip file in R the function foo doesn?t exist.

Newbie creating package with compiled code
Hi R Gurus!
I'm trying to create a test package using the package.skeleton function.
I wanted to add some compiled code too.
In the src library, I put together a baby subroutine, compiled it and created
a test.dll
When I use the R cmd build, it works fine. But I get into trouble
with the R CMD check section.

timings for examples in R CMD check
I'm having a very hard time making R CMD check produce a clean check on
examples because of the timings inserted into examples by R CMD check.
I am getting a difference on every example output caused by timing
information being inserted by 'R CMD check'.
The current 'Writing R Extensions' manual[1] states on p. 14:

[LLVMdev] Migration from JIT to MCJIT
Thanks, Eran.
I’m not sure how soon I’ll have a solution for you, but it’s on my to-do list now. I’ll also create a bugzilla record for this problem.
