Exporting interactive 3D plots with axes and labels
Hi, I have a question about exporting interactive 3D plots. I use the following code to plot a contour of a trivariate normal distribution: library(mvtnorm) library(rgl) library(misc3d) n=25 x=seq(-3,3,length=n) X=cbind(rep(x,each=n**2),rep(rep(x,each=n),n),rep(x,n**2)) p=array(dmvnorm(X,sigma=diag(3)*0.5+0.5),c(n,n,n)) contour3d(p,x,x,x,level=mean(p)) lim=c(-3,3)

Using contour3d: axes, plotting to file, with lattice
I am looking for examples of how to plot with contour3d() to a PNG or PDF file, add axes and other elements to the isosurface plot, and use contour3d in conjunction with lattice. Regarding lattice, I'm not necessarily looking for conditioning on the data shown in the isosurface plots, just a way to show multiple plots in one figure and label them. I am new to the packages misc3d and rgl.

Screen settings for point of view in lattice and misc3d
I'm making some 3D plots with contour3d from misc3d and wireframe from lattice. I want to view them from below; i.e. the negative z-axis. I can't figure out how to do so. I would like my point of view looking up from below, with the z, y, and x axes positive going away. Can anyone tell me the correct settings for screen to achieve this? Here is what I've found so far:

r-help
Hey, Is there any function plotting several "implicit functions" (F(x,y)=0) on the same fig. Is there anyone who has an example code of how to do this? The contour3d function in the misc3d package only work with the functions with three dimensions. Thanks a lot. Many thanks for your help. KnifeBoot [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

misc3d Contour export to vtk
So I wanted to export a contour3d object into VTK and it worked well enough, except the top of the ball (the contour) was missing. Example below, or gist here: https://gist.github.com/muschellij2/5126544 rm(list=ls()) require(misc3d) f <- function(x, y, z) x^2+y^2+z^2 x <- seq(-2,2,len=20) ball <- contour3d(f,4,x,x,x, draw=FALSE) drawScene.rgl(ball) ### get the triangles allids

Question about contour3d and writeWebGL: rgl and misc3d package
I saw that in rgl:::writeWebGL that "Polygons will only be rendered as filled; there is no support in WebGL for wireframe or point rendering.". I found that you can easily use contour3d to make reproducible contour web figures, such as (taken from contour3d help) library(AnalyzeFMRI) a <- f.read.analyze.volume(system.file("example.img", package=

how to plot implicit functions
Dear R users -- I think this question was asked before but there was no reply to it. I would appreciate any suggestion any of you might have. I am interested in plotting several "implicit functions" (F(x,y,z)=0) on the same fig. Is there anyone who has an example code of how to do this? Thank you Yihsu

Layer problem in DrawDensity3D (VecStatGraphs3D)
Hi, When plotting the density estimation with DrawDensity3D-function (in package VecStatGraphs3D) it often happens that the end product ie. layers are not intact , see figure in the link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/vzyaiu0vso8hjw2/20623868_10213333234554853_1371245353_n.png?dl=0 Can we somehow effect on that an get intact layers? -- Atte Tenkanen

is there a way to visualize 3D normal distributions?
Hi all, How do I visualize a contour of a tri-variate normal distribution? I just like to see the ellipsoid very much. I hope there is a easy way or existing method in R. Thank you a lot! Michael. [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

help with 3-D plot of kernel density estimates
Hi, I guess I have a naive question. I use kde2d function in a standard way to estimate kernel densities of x and y (x and y are vectors) and plot them using image(). f1=kde2d(x,y) image(f1) But what if I want to see kernel estimates of three variables, x, y and z (a vector) plotted together ? Something in which x<->y is plotted and colored according to the corresponding value of z ?

Lattice densityplot with semitransparent filled regions
Hello, I'm doing some graphics for a paper and a need customize such with filled region above the density curve. My attempts I get something very near what I need, but I don't solve the problem of use semitransparent filled. Below a minimal reproducible code. Someone has any idea? require(lattice) # toy data... dt <- expand.grid(A=1:2, B=1:3, y=1:50) dt$y <- rnorm(nrow(dt), dt$B,

is that possible to graph 4 dimention plot
Suppose there are 4 variables d is a function of a , b and c I want to know how a, b and c change will make d change It will be straightforward to see it if we can graph the d surface if d is only a function of a and b, I can use 'persp' to see the surface of d. I can easily see at what values of a and b, d will get the maxium or minium or multiple modes, etc But for 4 dimention graph,

3D surface plot
I have what is probably a noob question, but.... I am trying to create a 3d plot to illustrate the range of values for the following simple function: A = B*(C/D) B, C, and D are independent variables whose range are equal (e.g. 1 to 3 inclusive) I figure it's not possible to map the surface of A on the 3d space defined by B, C and D but I would like to create a surface defined by the

how to fill the area under the density line with semitransparent colors
Dear R-listers, I have created a plot to display the density lines for the same variable by different entities. Now, I want to fill the area under the density lines with semitransparent colors. Though I have checked that in web-searching and book-reading, I still do not perform that. Could anyone please give me any helps or advice? Thank you in advance. The data and code I used listed below: #

How to use alpha transparency channel for colors?
The release notes for R 2.0.0 states: It is now possible to specify colours with a full alpha transparency channel via the new 'alpha' argument to the rgb() and hsv() functions, or as a string of the form "#RRGGBBAA". NOTE: most devices draw nothing if a colour is not opaque, but PDF and Quartz devices will render semitransparent colours. A new argument

Online backup with dovecot
Hi! Do you guys/girls (whichever you prefer) know if it's possible (i.e. in some semitransparent/easy way) to incorporate an online backup system? If the mail is older than a set amount of days it gets compressed. I want my mail storage size to shrink but on the other hand I want to keep the mails I get and have them easily readable :) I'm thinking of symlinks and some kind of gzip
