Crash after (wrongly) applying product operator on object from LIMMA package
Hi Hilmar,
weird. The memory problem seems be due to recursion (my R, version 3.3.3,
says: Error: evaluation nested too deeply: infinite recursion /
options(expressions=)?, just write traceback() to see how it happens), but
why does it segfault with xlsx? Nb xlsx is the culprit: neither rJava nor
xlsxjars cause the problem.
On the other hand, quick googling for r+xlsx+segfault returns tons of

Crash after (wrongly) applying product operator on object from LIMMA package
Hi,
this is a problem that occurs in the presence of two libraries (limma,
xlsx) and leads to a crash of R. The problematic code is the wrong
application of sweep or the product ("*") function on an LIMMA MAList
object. To my knowledge, limma does not define a "*" method for MAList
objects.
If only LIMMA is loaded but not package xlsx, the code does not crash
but rather

Adjusting p values of a matrix
Dear all,
I have an n x n matrix of p-values. The matrix is symmetrical, as it
describes the "each against each" p values of correlation
coefficients.
How can I best correct the p values of the matrix? Notably, the total
number of the tests performed is n(n-1)/2, since I do not test the
correlation of each variable with itself. That means, I only want to
correct one half of the matrix,

colour highlighting inputs and outputs in the R terminal?
Dear all
Is it possible to get basic colour highlighting for inputs and outputs
in the R terminal? I am looking for something similar to what GUIs
provide, such as JGR and (I think) the Windows R GUI: colouring all
inputs in red, and all outputs in blue. All this in a colour-aware
console (in my case, on Linux).
I've been looking into xterm256 and highlight, but I am sofar unable
to do with

deparse operators in expressions
Hi,
I observed a slight problem in deparse(): it will add spaces around
most operators except /. I wonder if this is easy to fix. I know this
is quite trivial, but I will appreciate if / is not treated as an
exception. Examples:
> deparse(expression(1/1))
[1] "expression(1/1)"
> deparse(expression(1+1))
[1] "expression(1 + 1)"
> deparse(expression(1%in%1))

pvclust crashing R on Ubuntu 10.10
Hi all
I am writing to you with a question regarding the pvclust package. And
yes, before the usual people produce their usual
contact-the-package-maintainers line, ye, I tried that but the emails
one can find on the web either bounce or are not responded to. Also,
yes, this error has already been reported as a bug but been shot down
as not reproducible

plot3d crashes R
Hi Duncan,
I've just read the help for the plot3d function you've written and tried out the example code given at the bottom of the page. I then modified the function by adding an aspect ratio of 0.1 and ran it again, which crashed my R. I am using 2.12.2 on Windows, if that tells you anything.
Best wishes,

Math characters in column heading using latex() in Hmisc
Hi Everybody
I want to print a latex table containing math characters in the column
heading
These are the formulae I want to use as column headings. It prints OK from
TeX
$\sum_{i}\sum_{j}C_{P,i,j,y}\times\mathit{FC}_{i}$, $XU_{alt,y}$, $n$,
$\bar{C}_{P,y}$
My plan was to create a character vector with these and later rbind the
values to them. When I create the vector like:

R string comparisons may vary with platform (plain text)
A colleague?s R program behaved differently when I ran it, and we thought
we traced it probably to different results from string comparisons as
below, with different R versions. However the platforms also differed. A
friend ran it on a few machines and found that the comparison behavior
didn?t correlate with R version, but rather with platform.
I wonder if you?ve seen this. If it?s not some

R and Matlab
Dear Group,
I am looking for ways to use R and Matlab. Doing the data transformations in
R and using the data in Matlab to analyze with some pre-defined scripts.
Any good ways to transfer the data into matlab in its most recent version?
I tried using R.matlab but the writeMat output is not readable by Matlab.
I just need to output a data.frame and read it as is into matlab where I can
do any

Dynamically build variable names
I'm trying to dynamically build variable names to use on a list. Let's say I have a list like this one:
l <- list(V1_1=c(1,2,3), V1_2=c('One','Two','Three'))
And I succesfully build my variable name like this:
paste('l$', 'V1_1', sep='')
Why can't I just run a mean call with the pasted variable name?
mean(paste('l$',
