Access to conditioning variables (lattice)
[using R version 2.8.1 (2008-12-22)] Hello, I'm trying to access the conditioning variables of an xyplot within a 'panel' function but I have not been able to figure out how to do so. Here is a simple example that describes what I wish to do (the problem lies with the commented line): dataset <- data.frame(x = c(1,2), y = c(4,5), Type = factor(c("a","b")))

looking for graphing tools
Hi! I have bazillions of incoming (rejected) attempts to connect to my SMTP server, and I'm interested in separating out those that seem to come in huge bunches (e.g., the one from yesterday that ran for about 10 hours and sent over 4100 attempts), and graphing them so I can see the spacing and/or distribution in time. I can figure out some simple scripting to turn the maillog entries into

First of all, I'd like to beg you for patience, because I'm comple- tly new in Linux. My first question is: every tutorial on installation talks about inserting an installation CD, but I'm not sure about

Hello- If I am in the middle of a method in an ActiveRecord object or a controller how can I just print something out to the screen and either keep going or exit immediately? If I am in a controller I can just generate some text and: render :text => "my debug output" But it would be nice to print something out to the output buffer and then continue on. Additionally, if I am inside

Asterisk Queue ACD when the queues and agents has the same priority/weight
Hello, I have three queues (F1,F2,F3) with default queue weight and three agents (A1,A2,A2) with default agent penalty. If the three agents are busy and tt same time a caller (C1) enter in the queue F1, and after 20 seconds a second caller (C2) enter in the queue F2. So, few seconds later, the agent (A1) state comes to availabe. In this case the asterisk deliveries the caller (C2) to agent (A1),

How to generate a random field with truncated marginal distributions?
I have asked the same question on stackoverflow but did not get a satisfying answer. I am trying to simulate a lognormal spatial random field but I need the simulated value in a certain range. So I need some easy to use functions to generate a truncated Gaussian field to start with. To be specific, I need a function like GaussRF from the RandomFields package or grf from the geoR package to

matching vectors against vectors
Hi all. I have a re-occuring typical problem that I don't know how to solve efficiently. The situation is the following: I have a number of data-sets (A,B,C,...) , consisting of an identifier (e.g. 11,12,13,...,20) and a measurement (e.g. in the range 100-120). I want to compile a large table, with all availabe identifiers in all data-sets in the rows, and a column for every

subset, once more
New to R, I had the bad idea to send a bug report about '[' not knowing it had a drop= argument. Now, I wonder about the absence of this argument in subset... In both availabe methods (see below), there is a ... argument, but this argument is not used in either. Rather, subset.data.frame explitictly passes drop=F in 1 instance. Before I start patching (for my own use): what is the

Bug in my code (finding nonzero min)
Can someone verify for me if the for loop below is really calculating the nonzero min for each row of a matrix? I have a bug somewhere in the is section of code. My first guess is how I am find the the nonzero min of each row of my matrix. The overall idea is to make sure I am investing all of my money, i.e. new.set is a set of indicator variables for each stock for a particular portfolio, i.e.
