Compiling an older version of R (2.11.1) on Ubuntu 13.10
Hello all, I am trying to compile (by "hand") an old version of R (2.11.1, specifically). "Why?", you might ask. Well, I have a program I am trying to run (that was not written by me, but I am hoping to use in my research) that was written in "old" R, and the program writer has specifically mentioned that R-2.11.1 or older must be used. I have run

Some issues with UPS Forza SL-1001
Hi to everybody. Some days ago, I bought an UPS by Forza Power Technologies, model SL-1001. This Forza SL-1001 is line-interactive, has 14,4 A/h charge and is rated at 1000VA. Before, I had a TrippLite Omni 500 (or something like that), a simple contact-closure UPS, and I used nut with the simple genericupsdriver, so I'm new with this type of UPSs. NUT doesn't list Forza as a

ggplot2, arrows and polar coordinates
Dear R users, The following issue has been already documented, but, if I am not mistaken, not yet solved. This issue appears while trying to plot arrows with "geom_segment" (package ggplot2), with polar coordinates ("coord_polar"). The direction of some arrows is wrong (red rectangle). Please find herewith an example. Does someone know how to deal with that issue? Best

after_update attributes problem
Hey guys, I''m having a hard time w/ the after_update callback on rails... As far as I can tell, when I define a after_update callback on a model, the attributes of the object have the same values that they had *before* Base.save was called. I''m probably wrong so here''s the code: UNIT TEST: def test_register_item_adjusts_account_balance account =

Hello everyone, I have been able to get windows xp to run under a virtual machine, but i cannot get any network access. My desktop is connected to a university network, and we are only given 1 ip address. so i understand i have to use routing instead of bridging, right? i have commented the two lines for bridge and enabled routing in /etc/xen/xend-config.sxp next i inserted a line: vif

Questions about glht() and interpretation of output from Tukey's in multcomp
Hi, I have a few questions about glht() and the interpretation of output from Tukey's in multcomp package for lme() model. The main issue is that I noticed that a plot that I produced with code letters seem to contradict the graph itself. I provide data and code below. I end with my questions. A few things about data set. "LMA.vcp" is continuous response variable.

disagreement in loglikelihood and deviace in GLM with weights leads to different models selected using step()
In species distribution modeling where one uses a large sample of background points to capture background variation in presence\pseudo-absence or use\available models (0\1 response) it is frequently recommended that one weight the data so the sum of the absence weights is equal to the sum of presence weights so that the model isn?t swamped by an overwhelming and arbitrary number of background

[LLVMdev] Status of Elsa->LLVM
I'm a little further along now. I've started to put together a simple driver for Elsa and LLVM that I'm calling "ellsif" (cute name, I think it works). The file being compiled is a "printf" function. Here are timing results for optimized and unoptimized runs: [~/elsa/ellsif] dev% ./ellsif -v test/ofmt.i -time-actions Adding test/ofmt.i as a preprocessed C file

GPL PV drivers for Windows 0.9.11-pre12
I''ve just uploaded 0.9.11-pre12 of the GPL PV drivers for Windows. Since -pre10 (and -pre11) I''ve fixed a heap of crashes that were plaguing xennet under load, and also rewritten the interrupt/event distribution logic to improve performance. Under windows 2003 I can now get network speeds of 1-2Gbit/second TX and 600Gbit/second RX, which is considerably better than I was

differences between survival models between STATA and R
Dear Community, I have been using two types of survival programs to analyse a data set. The first one is an R function called aftreg. The second one an STATA function called streg. Both of them include the same analyisis with a weibull distribution. Yet, results are very different. Shouldn't the results be the same? Kind regards, J -- View this message in context:
