How to change labels in scatterplot?
Dear all, I'm trying to use "scatterplot" from package "car" to get a scatterplot with row-names as labels and I want my data to be divided into two groups defined by the column "tresh". Leaving away the groups-command gives me the right labels but they are not distinguished by colors according to "tresh". Does anybody know why the following example

using eval to handle column names in function calling scatterplot graph function
I am running R version 2.15.1 in Windows XP I am having problems with a function I'm trying to create to: 1. subset a data.frame based on function arguments (colname & parmname) 2. rename the PARMVALUE column in the data.frame based on function argument (xvar) 3. generate charts plotvar <- function(parentdf, colname, parmname, xvar, yvar ){ subdf <-

Group labels in lattice barchart
Hello, I've been searching on the web for a few hours and seem to be stuck on this. The code pasted below generates a histogram of subject responses in four different conditions in an experiment. This version of the graph is one I'm using for internal consistency checking, so I've set it up to indicate the order of the responses, which is contained in the variable StimCount. The

categorical variable in scatterplot (car)
Hello R folks, I am encountering a problem with the following scatterplot function from the car package: > scatterplot(y~x|z) where y and x are continuous (interval) random variables and z is a categorical variable. When z is a categorical variable coded 1 or 2, I (appropriately) get a scatterplot of y by x, coded by z. Similarly, when z is a categorical variable coded 1, 2, or 3, there is

Scatterplot color options in CAR package?
Hi All. I'd like to change the default plotting colors used to construct a scatterplot with regression line in the CAR package. So, scatterplot(y~pred, smooth=FALSE, xlab="X", ylab="Y", lwd=2) If I change the palette (e.g., palette(ranbow(6)), I can change the color of the lines and points. However, the axes and labels remain in black (i.e., the first color in the

(CAR) Scatterplot and problems (?) with abline
Network Blitz I'm trying to generate a graph to summarize Interest Rate Parity. This involves a scatterplot of x against y where the x and y limits are set so to center the graph on 0,0 and then adding each axis line and a 45 degree line. Using CAR's scatterplot (sample code below) everything except the axes plot fine: scatterplot( Interest.Rate.Dif ~ ForPrm| profit,

Fine tuning scatterplot() (car package)
Hello all! System: R2.0.1, W2k. All packages apdated with update.packages(). I use the default graphic device for my system (no active choice). I?m trying to fine-tune scatterplot() graphs (package car), for publication. I want to control plotting symbols and colours to match plots from other, less flexible, systems. I also need to make all text and symbols bigger, to enable printing of the

Removing default loess line from scatterplot ({car})
scatterplot() is autogenerating a regression and loess line. I want to remove the loess line, but can only find samples for how to add it. I definitely do not have code that adds it (see below), so I am puzzling... scatterplot(Aroused ~ anxious | group, data=data, xlab="Aroused", ylab="Anxious", main="Arousal and anxiety ratings", xlim=c(0.5, 9.5),

scatterplot in Package CAR
Hi Folks, Please, when I ask the option reg.line at the scatterplot in package car, the OLS models includes a constant? If not how can I do it sing the following code: scatterplot(lfirms ~ lscale, data=dataset, reg.line=lm, smooth=FALSE, labels=FALSE, span=0.5, xlab="Relative Plant Fixed Cost", ylab="Relative Number of Firms", pch=c(18),

problem with expand.model.frame
Dear R list members, I'm encountering a problem with expand.model.frame(): Suppose that I define the following simple function (meant just to illustrate the problem): > fun <- function(model){ + expand.model.frame(model, all.vars(formula(model))) + } > and I have the following model, created with an explicit data argument: > mod Call:

generating contrast names
Dear R-devel list members, I'd like to suggest a more flexible procedure for generating contrast names. I apologise for a relatively long message -- I want my proposal to be clear. I've never liked the current approach. For example, the names generated by contr.treatment paste factor to level names with no separation between the two; contr.sum simply numbers contrasts (I recall an

multiple car scatterplots on one graph

Bootstrapped Regression
Hello Rui, Thanks for your helpful suggestions. Just for illustration, let's use the well known Duncan dataset of prestige vs education + income that is contained in the "car" package. Suppose I wish to use boot function to bootstrap a linear regression of prestige ~ education + income and use the following script: duncan.function <- function(data, indices) {data =

scatterplots in car package
Hi, using scatterplot in 'car' package. There are 4 plots to be pictured together (ignore data used): library(car) par(mfrow=c(3,1)) ts.plot(rnorm(100)) ts.plot(rnorm(100)) scatterplot(rnorm(100),rnorm(100),boxplot="",smooth=T) # scatter with non-parametric fit problem is that the last one comes 'always' separate. Bootstrapped Regression
Hello, Much clearer now, thanks. It's a matter of changing the function boot calls to return the predicted values at the point of interess, education = 50, income = 75. I have changed the way the function uses the indices a bit, the result is the same, it's just the way I usually do it. pred.duncan.function <- function(data, indices) { mod <- lm(prestige ~ education +

ggplot2: font size mismatch for pdf output
Hi In the following, the graph I see on the screen and the .png output coincide. However, in the .pdf file, the fonts seem to be scaled fairly larger, resulting in the label for the top legend disappearing. Is this an infelicity or bug, or is there something I've missed? More generally, how do I control the size of fonts used in legends and axis labels? library(car) library(ggplot2) qp
