Tcl/Tk on Panther
It used to be sufficient to configure R with configure --enable-R-shlib --with-tcl-config=/Library/Frameworks/Tcl.framework/tclConfig.sh --with-tk-config=/Library/Frameworks/Tk.framework/tkConfig.sh --with-blas='-framework vecLib' --with-lapack --with-aqua but for some reason this does get Tcl/Tk support build in Panther (batteries included version of Aqua Tcl/Tk, but observe

R-tk mailing list
This is to announce that Martin Maechler has set up a new mailing list with the purpose of investigating the possibility to use Tcl/Tk with R. As you may know, Tcl is a scripting language and Tk is its GUI toolkit. In the context of R, the main attractions are - portability X/Win3.1/Win32/Mac - ease of implementation (people say...) - nice GUI model of Tk - possibility of making language

Some R-Tcl/Tk-BWidget newbie questions.
Dear list, Could somebody who is more experienced with the Tcl/Tk interface from R please help me clarify the issues I've put below with ### --> tags? Several things go wrong, and it's probably because of messy code, but I have a difficult time finding out what is the cause. Thanks very much, JeeBee. require(tcltk) || stop("Package tcltk is not available.") # Add path to

Tk font problem with CentOS 6
I'm having an odd problem which I can't seem to find the answer to. I have recently upgraded from CentOS 5 to CentOS 6 (using a fresh install and migrate). However, I have a bunch of Tk widgets that use font names like "12x24" and "5x7", etc. Under CentOS 5 (Tk 8.4), this worked fine; however, under CentOS 6 (Tk 8.5), this does not seem to work properly; it does not

tcl/tk
Hi all, I am already using R under Window and would like now to try and install it under Unix; I read I need tcl/tk installed so I connected to http://www.scriptics.com downloaded the file and extracted them to a directory tcltk beside R. I configured (./configure) both packages (tcl and tk) and compiled (make) them but I am not sure about how to proceed now: should I launch the command make

[R-SIG-Mac] Starting tcltk without Tk
It turns out that the behavior of starting just Tcl was actually a bug. Apparently the intention was to attempt to start Tk regardless of the DISPLAY variable, because some TclTk implementation such as Aqua Tcl/Tk don't require DISPLAY and thus would not be loaded. Due to a bug (HAVE_AQUA was not included in Rconfig.h before R 2.7.0), though, this was not the case. I'll leave it

Odd crash with tcl/tk
Hi, Recently, I've been trying to use packages in R that require loading the Tcl/Tk interface. However, I get a strange result and a crash that I haven't been able to find discussion about on these boards (or any others). When I enter library(tcltk), it reads "Loading Tcl/Tk interface ... ", but then never says "done" or displays some sort of error message. Looks

Lost Tcl/Tk support
In prior versions, as recent as R-1.5.0pre (2002-04-08), Tcl/Tk support worked just fine, with "configure" (no flags) finding /usr/local/lib/tclConfig.sh and /usr/local/lib/tkConfig.sh. In Monday's official release of R-1.5.0, Tcl/Tk support now fails for me (under Solaris 2.6): ... checking for tclConfig.sh... no checking for tclConfig.sh in library (sub)directories... no

Off topic: Tcl/Tk outside R.
I'm trying to learn about the tcltk package and its uses. Floundering around a bit ... Have discovered Peter Dalgaard's articles in R-News, which should help. Also James Wettenhall's suite of examples look like they might be enlightening, even though the indications are that they are Windoze oriented. Be that as it were, I decided to fool around a bit with Tcl/Tk *outside* of R to

Installing R on Red Hat Linux, Tcl/Tk
Hi, I've been trying to install R on Red Hat Linux 9 for some potential users of my R/TclTk application. I tried using the rpm for R 1.7.1 for Red Hat Linux 9. It told me that I needed: libtcl8.3.so so I looked for a binary release of Tcl 8.3.x on http://www.tcl.tk/software/tcltk/8.3.html but found that the link to the Tcl 8.3.x binaries pointed to ActiveTcl 8.4.x . I couldn't see
