"NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE"
Hi everyone, I'm using the online HOWTO manual in the "Quick Start" reference to try and get a basic domain controller going. So I set up smb.conf, and testparm checked out okay, I've started nmbd and smbd, but when I try to to run [root@localhost samba]#smbclient -L <username> -U<username>%<password> session setup failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE <-- I get

Worked examples?
I've been experimenting with Samba a bit. I won't claim to know a whole lot about it, because I don't, and I'm even somewhat of a newbie when it comes to Linux/UNIX. But I've been working with the worked examples that the HOW TO docs describe on the website, configuring my smb.conf file as is stated. I'm running Samba 3.0.14a-2 on Fedora Core 4, and I'm running into a

Fix list so it adds Reply-To: header
Could whomever is in charge of the lartc mailing list please change it to add the header: Reply-To: lartc@mailman.ds9a.nl Every other list I''m on is setup so that by default replies will go to the list. When replying to lartc emails I notice myself and others constantly forgetting this list does not behave like the rest, and that we have to either do a reply-to-all, or manually enter in

London Pub Meetup: Tonight
Hi all, For those few of you in London and interested in an ad-hoc meetup, I''m planning on being at the Cheshire Cheese[1] at 6pm local time. I don''t expect to last long, being painfully jet lagged and all, but I''ll be there at least long enough for dinner and a pint or two. Note, also, that I''m giving a talk at GLLUG[2] tomorrow night. 1 -

ftp://kernel.org/pub/linux/boot/syslinux/ Gone?
When Kernel.org finally came back up, the boot directory and syslinux were there, and it was the same files as before from what I could tell, but now the boot directory is no longer there? Wondering why it was there, and now gone? +----------------------------------------------------------+ Michael D. Setzer II - Computer Science Instructor Guam Community College Computer Center

redis, pub/sub, rails 3, phusion passenger
I have another application publishing messages to redis server. Within my rails application, when a user clicks a button, I want a popup to display that shows live updates. I want the controller to publish notifications to redis, and I want my javascript to subscribe to those events and respond when it finds a suitable channel. What I do not know how to do is actually keep a control open like

Pub meets
Just to remind people that we're planning a pub meet in London with the excuse of celebrating Xapian's 8th birthday - we've set the date for 13th September now, since that seemed to suit most people best. There have also been suggestions of a couple of other meetings around the world. Details are on http://wiki.xapian.org/MeetingsAndGatherings - feel free to add and update. --

What’s the purpose of /var/lib/glusterd/nfs/secret.pem.pub ?

why not option to automatically add pub key?
One of the annoyances of ssh is the need to transfer the public key from client machine to server machine, and append to authorized_keys. Although it's simple to do, it's annoying to have to do this manually. Why can't this be automated? ssh offers to add new machine to known_hosts. Why doesn't it offer to add the public key to authorized_keys?

ssh.1(may be after 20060106) and .pub files
