Simulation - Natrual Selection
Hi, I've been modelling some data over the past few days, of my work, repeatedly challenging microbes to a certain concentration of cleaner, until the required concentration to inhibit or kill them increaces, at which point they are challenged to a slightly higher concentration each day. I'm doing ths for two different cleaners and I'm collecting the required concentration to

Resampling to find Confidence intervals
Hi, I'm doing some modelling (lm) for my 3rd year dissertation and I want to do some resampling, especially as I'm working with microbes, getting them to evolve resistance to antimicrobial compounds, and after each exposure I'm measuring the minimum concentration required to kill them (which I'm expecting to rise over time, or exposures), I have 5 lineages per cleaner, and

Bioassays Yielding concentration-Mortality data
Dear all, I'm trying reproduce an example of bioassays Yielding Concentration-Mortality Data particularly control - adjustment model from book Bioassay of Entomopathogenic Microbes and Nematodes chapter 7 with R. I used glm with family=binomial and link=probit, but I do not know how to implement parameter gamma (control mortality - mortality of the untreated control insect in this exaple)

Code works, but not as function.
Hi, I have some values in a list format generated by the following: Path_Number <- 0010 ID.Path <- formatC(0001:Path_Number, width=4, flag=0) # Make vector of ID's. No_of_Effectors <- sample(1:550, length(ID.Path), replace=TRUE) # Define Number of Effectors each individual gets. Effectors <- split(sample(1:10000, sum(No_of_Effectors), replace=TRUE), rep(ID.Path, No_of_Effectors))

ANOVA and Pseudoreplication in R
Hi, As part of my dissertation, I'm going to be doing an Anova, comparing the "dead zone" diameters on plates of microbial growth with little paper disks "loaded" with antimicrobial, a clear zone appears where death occurs, the size depending on the strength and succeptibility. So it's basically 4 different treatments, and I'm comparing the diameters (in mm) of

question regression trees
Hello, This is my first time addressing such a big audience so apologies in advance in case I fail to formulate this question. I am working with 13 species of trees, and the data I have are: 1 continuous (phenolic concentration in xylem and in phloem) and 2 categorical variables: lineage (3 subclades) and habitat (fire and non fire). I am trying to see how species can be splitted

Get term from document by position
> Can you file a bug with some example outputs that are unrelated to the search string? Here is the example (see attachment). This example does the following: 1)First, it indexes text from the "text.txt" file (see attachment) (actually, this is the text of the following book: "Abbas, Lichtman. Basic immunology"). 2)Next, it searches for the "extracellular

using Paraview "in-situ" with R?
At ORNL, we worked with VisIt (a sibling of Paraview, both funded largely by DOE) around 2016 and made an in situ demo with R. We used packages pbdMPI (on CRAN) and pbdDMAT (on GitHub/RbigData), which were in part built for this purpose. Later also the package hola (on GitHub/RbigData) was built to connect with adios2, which can do buffered in situ connections with various codes. But the VisIt

Non-constancy of variances in mixed model.
Hi, I've been doing an experiment, measuring the dead-zone-diameters of bacteria, when they've been grown with paper diffusion disks of antimicrobial. There are two groups, or treatments - one is bacteria that have been cultured in said antimicrobial for the past year, the other group is of the same species, but lab stock and has not gone had any prior contact with the antimicrobial.

Confidence Intervals on Standard Curve
Hi, I wonder if anyone could advise me with this: I've been trying to make a standard curve in R with lm() of some standards from a spectrophotometer, so as I can express the curve as a formula, and so obtain values from my treated samples by plugging in readings into the formula, instead of trying to judge things by eye, with a curve drawn by hand. It is a curve and so I used the

Lineage Freya Engine.dll failed to initialise
Hello! I'm kind of new to Linux so I'm in learning process. The thing keeping me tied to Windows is that I can't play the same games on Linux so I have been dual-booting it on my laptop. Recently I found out about Wine and decided to try it out. I decided to install Lineage 2 using Wine. Before doing anything wanted to make sure that I know exactly what to do and how so I searched

Covid Mutations: Cumulative?
Dear R-Users, Did anyone follow more closely the SARS Cov-2 lineages? I have done a quick check of Cov-2 mutations on the list downloaded from NCBI (see GitHub page below); but it seems that the list contains the cumulative mutations only for B.1 => B.1.1, but not after the B.1.1 branch: # B.1 => B.1.1 seems cumulative diff.lineage("B.1.1", "B.1", data=z) # but B.1.1

tyring to save plots using windoze 7 and cygwin
Hi, I'd been using R in the past and recently installed it on a new windoze 7 machine. There have been many issues with compatibility and 32/64 bit apps etc and I did find on google on isolated complaint that saveplot failed in scripts a long time ago. R seems to work fine except script-based plot saving as pdf has not worked. I have tried the following, none of which seem to function, xyz

Re: Lineage 2 (Gracia part 3 : Final) & Wine
Hey Lineage 2 lovers :D, does anybody know why I don't have any texts in Lineage ? Although Lineage works like a charm, I see no text, titles, names, etc. What should be the option ?

getting R-readable data , not pictures, from US OTS "data" pages
Does anyone know offhand if the OTS has an FTP site or other pages off in a corner somewhere to make data downloading and integration with R easy? They have mailing lists to which you can subscribe that announce new data but then you get these things like PDF files with tables of numbers and the PR releases don't obviously have links to related csv or other data files. For example,
