Drawing several pictures on a plot
Hi, I want to draw several pictures on one plot and do as follows: xy<-matrix(rnorm(100,100,10),50) op <- par(mfrow = c(2, 2), pty = "s") plot(xy,ann=F);plot(xy,ann=F);plot(xy,ann=F);plot(xy,ann=F) par(op) What I need now is to set the size of the pictures within this plot since there is too much free space among the pictures, making the plot look not that pretty. How can I do

Drawing a loess line
Dear all, To draw a lowess line on a plot was a piece of cake; to draw a loess line, however, seems not that easy. Is the loess plotting implemented at all in relation to the loess function, or do I have to look in add-on packages? Thanks, Marcin

Vertical text in a plot
Hi, Consider this simple plot: > plot(1:25,runif(25,0,1),ylab="First Y-axis label",xaxt="n") I want to add an additional axis as > axis(4,at=seq(0.2,1,.2), labels=1:5) I have no idea how to add now the title of the new axis as "Second Y-axis label". I want this text to be vertically directed from bottom to top. I can't find the function in text() to write

Controling width of boxes in boxplots
Hi, I want to add boxplots to a scatterplot: plot(x,y, xlim=c(80,120),ylim=c(80,120)) boxplot(y,add=TRUE,at=118) boxplot(x,add=TRUE,at=118,horizontal=TRUE) How can I control the width of the boxes (say, I'd like them to be of width 3 in the variables' scales). I've tried the "width" parameter but failed. Thanks in advance, Marcin

Aspect ratio and limits
Suppose I have the following data I want to scatterplot: > xy [,1] [,2] [1,] 0 0 [2,] 21 4 I start up a graphics window and fire away: > plot(xy) - but because the graphics window is square, the aspect ratio is wrong. So I add: > plot(xy, asp=1) - now the aspect ratio is correct, but the Y range is about -8 to 11, whereas my data has a Y range of 0

Dendrogram with the UPGMA method
Hi, I am clustering objects using the agnes() function and the UPGMA clustering method (function = "average"). Everything works well, but apparently something is wrong with the dendrogram. For example: x<-c(102,102.1,112.5,113,100.3,108.2,101.1,104,105.5,106.3) y<-c(110,111,110.2,112.1,119.5,122.1,102,112,112.5,115) xy<-cbind(x,y) library(cluster) UPGMA.orig<-agnes(x)

Updating a hexbinplot
Dear all, Considering this simple example of hexbinplot: mixdata <- data.frame(x = c(rnorm(5000), rnorm(5000,4,1.5)), y = c(rnorm(5000), rnorm(5000,2,3)), a = gl(2, 5000)) fig <- hexbinplot(y ~ x | a, mixdata) print(fig) update(fig, colramp = BTC) produces a bad (non-updated) legend. Compare it with: hexbinplot(y ~ x | a, mixdata, colramp = BTC) What

asp=1 and aspect ratio
Hi everyone I want a square scatterplot with abline(0,1) going exactly through the SW and NE corners. By "square" I mean that the plotting region is exactly square, and that the axis limits are identical. x <- 1:20 y <- x+rep(c(-1,1),10) lims <- range(c(x,y)) None of the following do this: plot(x,y) ; abline(0,1) #not square plot(x,y,asp=1);abline(0,1) #diagonal

openssh PTY allocation
We recently upgraded to openss 5.8p2 from a somewhat older version. This broke openssh login to ScreenOS devices. These devices don't support PTY allocation. Apparently, ssh now reacts to PTY allocation failure by failing the login. This is a change from the previous behavior. The simple workaround is ssh -T $device. I see in the ChangeLog that some device would hang with PTY allocation

pty pairing host - guest
HI!, I am using virt-manager GUI. There I can add a `Console Device` through Add Hardware. I can add a virtio pty WITHOUT restarting the VM. also I get a pty allocated to host machine say `/dev/pty/M` My expectation is this `host:/dev/pty/M` is connected with a `guest:/dev/ttyN`. so If I open minicom or screen and write to `host:/dev/pty/M` it will be propagated to 'guest:/dev/ttyN'. Fwd: Libvirt-QEMU : Multiplex the output from qemu's serial port to a pty as well as a file (basically redirect console to file as well as pty device)
Hi Folks , As per https://libvirt.org/formatdomain.html#elementsConsole Regardless of the type, character devices can have an optional log file associated with them. Whether the lgging functionality is same as mapping device to file ? Whether libvirt xml syntax below both 1 and 2 are same ? 1) <serial type='pty'> <log

PTY-Allocation under SCO 5
Hello, I used the sshd under SCO 5, and always get the error that the deamon couldn't allcoate a pseudo tty. This depends on that SCO use a different method to create the tty's in the /dev directory. The pseudo tty line looks like: /dev/ttypXXX where XXX depends on the number of pseudo tty's entered in the scoadmin Tool for the network interface. So I change the allocation routine in

Slackware 4.0: wtmp and pty.c problems
Hello all, I use a Slackware 4.0 based system (libc5 based, with glibc2.07 runtime support). I've configured OpenSSH using: ./configure --sysconfdir=/etc/ssh --without-pam --with-default-path=/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/sbi n:/sbin NOTE: yes, --with-default-path DOES work, since pre24 (pre 22 did not) When I try to compile OpenSSH-1.2.1pre25 (or pre24 or pre22), I

Legacy PTY Support ?
I am looking at T38Modem. A relatively new version is ready for someone to build an rpm for (Mar '07). But the readme warns: Q. I try to use T38modem, but after run "t38modem -p ttyx0" I get a message "Could not open /dev/ptyx0: No such file or directory". A. Looks like you don't have legacy PTY devices compiled in your kernel. You need to re-compile the

[PATCH 1 of 4] xenconsoled: do not write the pty under serial
xenconsoled: do not write the pty under serial in xenstore if xenconsoled is handling a consolepath. The idea is that pv consoles use the "console" prefix in xenstore and emulated serials use the "serial" prefix in xenstore. There is no need to write the pty for a pv console under "serial", considering that xenconsoled is already writing the pty under
