Using R to send to SOAP server?
I have an R process continuously monitoring a data stream. When the
data meet certain criteria, I need to send a message to a SOAP server.
Currently I'm doing this by making a system() call to execute a perl
script, passing the message as an argument to the perl script.
I'm wondering if it can be done directly by R, and if so, whether
there might be any performance benefit.
I've

What to use for ti in back-transforming summary statistics from F-T double square-root transformation in 'metafor'
Hi Dr. Viechtbauer,
I'm doing meta-analysis using your package 'metafor'. I used the 'IRFT' to transform the incident rate. But when I tried to back-transform the summary estimates from function rma, I don't know what's the appropriate ti to feed in function transf.iirft. I searched and found your post about using harmonic mean for ni to back-transform the double

Not all functions work in RSPerl package?
Hi, Prof Duncan
I am sorry to report to a wrong place. But I am lucky to meet you by
chance, right? Thanks first ^^
1. The variable y1 is an array get from Perl, each element is from a
database (the type should be numeric). Here is the code for that.
$query = qq{
select exonCount, count(hsEnsGene) as geneCount from countTop1000ks group by exonCount order by exonCount;

Installing RSPerl and Statistics::R
Hi list,
For my research, I started using R as a statistics engine, driven by
perl scripts that manage my data and computational jobs. I recently
upgraded my cluster to Suse 9.2, and obviously wanted to upgrade R to
it's latest version, 2.1.1. Installation of R-2.1.1 went flawlessly
thanks to the rpm's created by Detlef Steuer (see cran, thanks Detlef).
To interface perl and R, two

Reseted net statistics
Hi all,
sometimes I?m checking status of my server with phpSysInfo, always is all
right, but at May 8 I was experienced a "big deviation". My machine was
online for 12 days, but net statistics are reseted. I was checked
/proc/net/dev and there are reseted net statistics too. How is this
possible?
Just before I was experienced this problem I was updating two packages with

Plotting with Statistics::R, Perl/R
I am trying to plot in R from a perl script using the Statistics::R
package as my bridge. The following are the conditions:
0. I am running from a Linux server.
1. Even without xwindows the following saves test.png correctly from an
interactive session with R:
> xy<-cbind(1,1)
> png("test.png")
> plot(xy)
> dev.off()
2. However, when called from the perl script I get

New Perl module Statistics::R
I have released the new module Statistics::R and need some feedback of it's
status.
This will permit the control of the the R (R-project) interpreter through
Perl in different architectures and OS.
You can for example, start only one instance of the R interpreter and have
different Perl process accessing it. What will save the initiation time of R
and memory.
Soo, I will appreciate if some

ANOVA procedure on the sufficient statistics
Hi,
I have a two-way anova with unequal cell numbers that I want to analyze.
The problem is I don't have individual observations of the data.
I only have the sufficient statistics (mean, variance, # of observations) for each cell.
Is there any existing function in S-plus that would allow me to do aov() with the sufficient statistics?
The table is like

R/Splus--Perl Interface && ssh
Hi:
I'm using RSPerl_0.6-3 calling R from Perl under UNIX system. My perl programs with the RSPerl work well in my computer. If submitting these programs to a UNIX system by 'ssh' or to GNQS system by 'qsub', these programs do not work even though both systems can run R. Details are following. Any suggestion will be highly appreciated.

Statistics::R
Hello
I am looking (possibly in vain!) for the Author of the Statistics::R
perl package - I believe he announced the package on this mailing list
some months ago. The name is Graciliano Monteiro Passos, and his e-mail
address, gm at virtuasites.com.br, is giving permanent errors.
Can anyone help? Does anyone use this perl package with R? I am having
a few problems with it.
Sorry to everyone

RSPerl and Statistics::R
Greetings!
Being a Perl hacker for some time, and wanting to leverage what R provides, I've been trying to work with Statistics::R and RSPerl.
The former has a race condition that breeds some unreliability and the latter seems to have issues all around, and neither has been updated in some time.
Are these projects are abandoned, or is there some effort currently being undertaken to
