Delete observations with a frequency < x
Hi,
I have two columns with data (both identifiers - it's an affiliation list)
and I would like to delete the rows in which the observations in the second
column have a frequency < 5 in the entire second column. Example:
1 a
1 b
1 c
2 a
2 b
2 d
Let's say, I would like to delete the rows in which the observation in the
second column has a frequency < 2 in

Select elements from text
Hi,
I have a series of MS word files and each file contains plain text. From
these texts I would like to extract only those elements (read: words) that
are between square brackets. Example of a text:

Wrong content-type reported for messages with only a text/html body?
Hi all,
It looks like Dovecot 1.0rc7 reports the wrong content-type for messages
with only a text/html body. An example of such a message is:

From: mathijs at izecom.com
Subject: test
To: foobar at example.com
Content-Type: text/html;

When I talk IMAP to Dovecot directly using telnet and fetch the

Drawing (lon, lat) coordinates onto the image of a world
Given a set of latitude and longitude coordinates pairsĀ (stored in variables "latitudevals" and "longitudevals"), I would like to plot them onto the image of a equirectangular world map. I would like to plot each coordinate pair with a red circle, if possible. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I go about doing this, whether using R or using another program like Google

Matching 2 SQL tables
Hi,
I have a postgresql and a mysql database and I would like to combine the
info from two different tables in R. Both databases contain a table with
three columns: project_name, release_id and release_date. So each project
output could be released multiple times (I am interested in the first
release_date). However, some of the data is missing. Basically, what I want
to do is to try and fill the

how to image.plot a XY grid file into a lat-lon map
Hi All,
I have a netcdf gridded file with LCC projection. I can easily use
image.plot to visualize it. However, as the axises are in X,Y, not Lat and
Lon, I could not add state or country maps onto it (or lat lon information).
I do have a grid2d file that describes the lat and lon for each (X,Y) grid,
but the lat and lon are not regularly spaced, so I could not use image.plot.
Does anyone know

map2poly - map lat/long cannot be unconstrained?
Using the maptools function "map2poly" I have created a map/polylist object
- a map of the Great Lakes. My goal is to passively plot additional data on
this map. Unfortunately I am not able to change (distort) the relative scale
of the axes for the map, and so the sample points do not line up correctly
on the map.
In the code below, notice that I have set the same axis ranges on each

ggplot axis limit
Hi,
This is probably an easy one, but I am new to ggplot2 and cannot find an
answer online.
I am bar plotting values of 10 groups. These values are all within a 90-100
range, so I would like leave out the area of the bars below 90. If I say
"graph + scale_y_continuous(limit=c(90, 100))", it does limit the axis but
the bars disappear completely. Any solution here?
Thanks a lot!

masking a regular lat/lon grid to extract map boundaries
Dear R-helpers,
I have lat/lon coordinates of regularly spaced grid points, about 4Km
apart, covering the entire US continental region.
I would like to mask this rectangular grid in order to extract all and
only the grid points within a specific region. Today I want to
extract Montana, say, from this grid, and I am hoping to somehow use
the returned value of the function

multiple ids on restful action
Hi,
I know this question has come up before, but I couldn''t find a
satisfying answer.
Maybe I didn''t look well enough, so any pointers to old messages
regarding this subject would be welcome too.
I need some way to pass multiple ids to a resource.
Something like /posts/13,14
If I do this I have to manually split the id on ","s in the action,
and use

3d plot of earth with cut
Dear All,
Thanks a lot for the useful help again. I manage to get it done up to a
point where I think I
just need to apply some smoothing/interpolation to get denser points, to
make it nice.
Basically, I started from Duncen's script to visualize and make the
clipping along a plane
at a slice.
Then I map my data points' values to a color palette and just plot them as
points on this
plane.

mapping lat and long with maps package
I am trying to overlay a data frame with lat and longitude(which refer to
zip codes) on the map of US that I get by using map ("states").
Is there anyway to do this or do I have to resort to using maptools?
thank you

I am trying to save a .gif movie using movie3d from the package {rgl}. I am
using the following code combined with the globe example on the ?movie3d

properly, i.e. when I do Sys.getenv("PATH"), C:\\Program Files

How to overlay a global map on a filled contour?
I would like to plot some lat-lon data in a filled contour, and then
overlay a map of the globe on top. I am trying something like this:
filled.contour(lons, lats, glb.data,
plot.axes={axis(1);axis(2);map(projection='rectangular',parameters=0,add
=T)}
)
The filled contour plots fine, and the map shows up, but only as a very
tiny little black rectangle in a small area of the
