Irritant
Hi again,
I've got a nagging irritant with either putty or the man pages, or
perhaps my setup. If I use putty to log into my server and request any
man page, it returns the page, but really important stuff like keywords
are blank. Is this perhaps caused by the wrong terminal setting in
putty or is there something with Centos man pages that cause this to happen?
Thanks again,
Sam

Command line logging program suggestions?
I am looking for an app that would run from the terminal and would emulate a
bash shell (or pass everything to the shell) that would allow me to set a
log file and then record all my input and the output to the screen from the
commands. As an added bonus if it would allow me to run it from two
terminals (or more) on the same machine and log all the input and output to
the same file while still

Numeric Keyboard does not work Wine 1.0 + Putty 0.60
I have searched for this problem and found this link that says this problem was fixed (for WoW) in Wine 0.9.32 :
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6323
Is anyone else having problems with the numeric keypad not showing numbers under Wine 1.0 ?
I have everything working for putty except this crippling problem. I don't feel I can offer a terminal emulator solution where you cannot use

Printing data.frame data: alternatives to print?
Hi,
I have a data frame with two factors (well, more, but 2 for simple
consideration), and I want to display the different combinations of
the them that actually occur in the data. In reality, there are too
many of them to do to do a 'table' call and have one col vertical and
one col horizontal (I don't want any of the factors listed
horizontally). Before I try to write a function

R shell line width
Hi,
I want to apologize in advance if this has already been asked. I
wasn't able to find any information, either on google or from local
list search.
I'm running an R shell from a linux command line, in an xterm window.
Whenever I print a data frame, only the first couple of columns are
printed side-by-side, the others are being repositioned below them. It
seems something is limiting the

ssh session output stalls
Hello,
Is anyone else having problems with the ssh session output stalling
when ssh'd to another system and the command is running via sudo and a
pager is being used (e.g., more)?
Too highly reproducible :( to date, all known occurrences have
involved Centos 4.3 servers; makes no difference whether client is
RHEL WS 4.3, Centos 4.3 or FC 5 or WinDoze. Makes no difference if

print.data.frame : row.name = FALSE not having intended effect
Hi,
Does anybody know if row.name = FALSE actually works in v2.6.2?
Because it isn't working for me... here is some sample code and
output:

x25 line xterm
Noted that xterm by default uses 24 lines
per window.
I have reviewed /etc/termcap looking for a
specific entry for xterm that I can edit
to change the ln#24 to ln#25 for our
application.
When I used RedHat there was an editable
option to change the number of displayable
lines as is done in putty.
Any suggestions?

Windows Trouble with --link-dest set: "file not found" when rsync tries to create hard link
I have great luck running rsync from one linux system to another, or
from a windows system (with cwRsync) to a linux system.
But when I try to do an rsync backup from one directory on a Windows
system to another, it fails. The cwRsync says its version is 2.6.9.
Here's my Rsync command, boiled down to its simplest:
rsync -rlptgD -vvv --delete --delete-excluded --modify-window=2

OpenSSH 2.5.1 compatibility problem
SSH server specs:

Redhat Linux 6.2
Custom built 2.2.17 kernel
OpenSSL 0.9.5a (update from RedHat).
OpenSSH 2.5.1p1
I am using my Linux box as an Internet gateway. I wanted to keep
the box as secure as possible while still having the functionality I
needed. The only way to connect to my server is through SSH. A fair
majority of the time I am attempting to

Using Pageant & Putty under Wine -
I am having an issue with Putty v.60 with Pageant v.60 under Wine-1.1.5.
The OS is Fedora 10 x86_64, and the Wine it the current RPM version for Fedora.
It is not that Pageant or Putty is not working; both do load. Putty does talk SSH2
properly.
The actual issue is that Keys that are loaded into Pageant v.60 are not available
to Putty v.60 for authentication; I suspect that this due to

OT: configuring xming to know putty's not in a std. location
Is there some way to do this? I've got the current putty (actually,
putty-cac), pageant, and plink in my user's Downlods directory - neither
he nor I have admin authority on his laptop, and Desktop support's
teleworking today - but I can't seem to find a way to configure xming to
look there for putty.
Or is it start putty, *then* start xming?

sFTP (client) RPM for CentOS 5.3 (32 bit) and/or putty-tools
I installed gFTP but apparently it does not handle the sFTP protocol.
I also installed the FireFTP Add On for the Firefox browser, but when
I tried to connect to the server, it says that I need putty-tools. I
have the rpmforge and epel repositories configured but yum did not
find putty-tools. Is there an RPM for a client program for gFTP or
putty-tools? If so, in which repository? TIA!

familiar with WinSCP versions but I believe the code is based on PuTTY, so

ggplot2: Controlling line width of panel borders
Dear R-users,
i encountered some problems when trying to adjust the line width of the
axes and stripes in a plot created with ggplot2.
I use the "barley" dataset of the lattice package to illustrate my problem:
library(ggplot2)
library(lattice)
barley[["SD"]] <- 5
limits <- aes(ymax=barley$yield + barley$SD,ymin=barley$yield - barley$SD)

Q: Windows/readline: missing history search
Hello!
Ever since I used R on Windows (RGui) I am missing the ability to search the command history (Cntrl+R (reverse-search-history) in BASH, for example). Is there a particular reason for having this function disabled? Another feature would be word-wise delete (kill-word, backward-kill-word).
Probably being able to use the Alt-key as Meta key for readline (instead of activating menu entries)
